Description
Crominus rules as king of the Crocodile Tribe and is the husband of Queen Crunket, as well as the father of Cragger and Crooler. A tough and fiercely protective leader, he governs with logic and common sense rather than emotion. Though he did not always agree with the Lion Tribe, he maintained a level of respect for them, recognizing that conflict harms both sides and adopting a pragmatic approach to leadership.
In his youth, Crominus competed with the lion Lavertus for Crunket’s affection. He obtained a Persuader Plant from the raven alchemist Reagull and used its hypnotic pheromones to trick Lavertus into stealing CHI from the sacred pool at the Lion Temple. This act led to Lavertus's exile, clearing the way for Crominus to marry Crunket and eventually become king. He later helped unify the fractured Wolf Tribe through diplomacy, resulting in the creation of the Pledge of the Pack as a symbol of their alliance.
Crominus and Crunket had twin children, Cragger and Crooler. When the eggs hatched, Crooler accidentally knocked over Cragger’s egg, though Cragger survived. Viewing this as a miracle, Crominus and Crunket designated Cragger as the chosen heir to the throne, which fostered resentment in Crooler.
During a clash between the Crocodile and Lion tribes, Crominus and Crunket fell into the Gorge of Eternal Depth inside their tank. Presumed dead, they actually survived due to a gravity field at the bottom of the gorge. They were captured by evolved scorpions, bats, and spiders known as Crawlers, who demanded to be led to the source of CHI.
While trapped in the gorge, Crominus discovered the Pledge of the Pack, discarded by Crooler. He kept it and later gave it to ShadoWind—who was revealed to be Lavertus—to deliver to Cragger as a sign of reassurance. Crominus and Crunket were eventually rescued and returned to the Crocodile Swamp.
Crominus was later captured by the Ice Hunters and frozen, becoming part of Sir Fangar’s trophy collection. He was freed when the heroes of Chima infiltrated the fortress and defeated the Ice Hunters.
During imprisonment in the Outlands, Crominus reconciled with his son Cragger and expressed regret for concealing the truth about his past actions against Lavertus. He offered to serve Lavertus to atone for his crimes, though the offer was declined.
