OVA
Description
Vile, a Reploid, began as an SA-Class Maverick Hunter in the 17th Elite Unit under Sigma. An irreparable irregularity in his electronic brain provoked extreme violent tendencies, driving him to indiscriminately destroy Mavericks and allies during missions. This conduct led to his arrest and imprisonment by the Maverick Hunters as a borderline Maverick.

During "The Day of Σ" OVA, Sigma’s rebellion enabled Vile’s escape. While restrained and escorted within the Maverick Hunter Base, Sigma’s mechaniloid attacks and system hacks created a diversion that freed Vile. Released, he pursued unrestrained destruction.

Vile harbored a deep grudge against fellow Hunter X, whom he deemed inferior yet unfairly favored. This animosity fueled his ambush on X during the Central Highway battle, where he deployed specialized Ride Armor and nearly killed X until Zero intervened. Vile’s motives extended beyond loyalty to Sigma; in Maverick Hunter X’s story mode, he rejected Sigma’s rebellion to pursue personal supremacy. He annihilated Sigma’s eight Maverick followers, seized their weapons, and challenged Sigma directly.

After infiltrating Sigma’s fortress in this alternate story, Vile confronted and defeated X and Zero simultaneously. He brutalized X while condemning X’s unrealized potential, then expressed satisfaction at validating his existence through combat before deactivation, despite critical damage from a counterattack.

Vile resurfaced repeatedly: rebuilt as "Vile MK-II" by Dr. Doppler in Mega Man X3 to eliminate X, he ignored Doppler’s objectives for personal vengeance. Centuries later in Mega Man X8, Lumine revived him to fake Lumine’s kidnapping. Piloting advanced Ride Armors, Vile battled X, Zero, and Axl on the Jakob Orbital Elevator and Moon before destruction.

His legacy persisted across media: a non-canonical ghost haunted Zero in Mega Man Zero 2, while data versions antagonized protagonists in Mega Man Xtreme, Project X Zone, and Project X Zone 2.
