Reiichirou Miyanoshita is the father of Satsuki and Keiichirou Miyanoshita. After the death of his wife, Kayako Miyanoshita, he relocated his family to her hometown. Within the family dynamic, particularly in the ADV English dub, Reiichirou is largely absent and inattentive. He remains skeptical of ghosts and the supernatural, completely unaware of his children's ghost-hunting activities and the supernatural dangers they encounter. The absence of Kayako and Reiichirou's emotional distance contribute to a strained relationship with his children. This strain manifests when Keiichirou, bullied for lacking a mother, desperately asks Reiichirou to impersonate a maternal figure, leading Reiichirou to wear a wig, dress, and stuffed bra. Reiichirou's enduring grief over Kayako surfaces in a flashback where a younger Reiichirou mistakes Satsuki for her mother due to their resemblance. The ADV English dub incorporates comedic suggestions of cross-dressing tendencies into his character, contrasting with the original Japanese portrayal where he is a more conventional, grieving widower.
