TV-Series
Description
Contestir is a knight-like Gundalian Bakugan, occasionally noted for rhinoceros-like features, who serves as the Guardian Bakugan of Zenet Surrow in the Gundalian Invaders storyline. His upper body mounts the distinctive Battle Gear Spartablaster.
He maintains a calm, dignified, and wise demeanor, often displaying a sly good nature. Though he frequently argues with Zenet Surrow, their partnership proves highly effective in battle. Contestir engages in numerous conflicts: his debut sees him easily defeat Linehalt before sacrificing himself to enable Rubanoid's victory over Drago. Later battles include fighting Fabia and Marucho's forces alongside Phosphos, losing to Dan and Lumino Dragonoid, and suffering defeat alongside Krakix against Lumino Dragonoid and Hawktor. Krakix then attacks Contestir, leading to a crucial reconciliation where Zenet affirms their mutual loyalty. During the Gundalian-Neathian war, he battles Castle Knights and Neathian Bakugan, consistently demonstrating combat prowess. His story concludes when Kazarina's mind-control spell breaks, freeing him and Zenet to ally with the Neathians. He participates in the final battle against Phantom Dharak before returning to Gundalia after the war.
In combat, Contestir utilizes specific Ability Cards:
* **Bleach Out:** Prevents opponents from activating abilities.
* **Shiny Monk:** Subtracts 400 Gs from opponents.
* **Hyper Sky Bolt:** Halts enemy abilities and reduces their Gs by 300.
* **Vanguard Roller:** Transfers 200 Gs from foes to Contestir.
* **Andromeda:** Deactivates enemy Battle Gear and removes Contestir from battle.
* **Evil Copy:** Transforms Contestir into another Bakugan, adopting its Attribute and abilities while enhancing copied abilities by 100 Gs. This ability cannot replicate Battle Gear or BakuNano, reverting Contestir if attempted.
When transformed into Coredem via Evil Copy, he gains Subterra abilities like Phantom Blow (+500 Gs) and Scale Arrow (-400 Gs from opponents). As Lumino Dragonoid, he accesses Pyrus abilities such as Crossfire (+400 Gs) and Cross Barnum (+600 Gs).
In the physical game, Contestir belongs to the BakuStand series. His base G-Power varies: Haos (800G), Darkus (630G), Subterra (750G or 860G), Ventus (670G or 880G), Aquos (770G), and Aquos BakuBlue (860G). Special editions include Crimson/Pearl (800G).
Trivia notes suggest design inspirations from *Neon Genesis Evangelion*'s EVA Unit 01, particularly in shoulder pads and knee razors. His battle entry animation resembles Preyas, and his Andromeda ability may reference the novel *The Andromeda Strain*. The mold was later repurposed for Marvel characters like Captain America in spin-off media.
