Gades leads the Gyandlar, a villainous band invading the mechanical world of Cronos in pursuit of the Hyribead—a mythical energy source that promises him eternal youth and boundless power. His obsession with securing this energy is matched only by his intense hatred of rust.

Though he appears as a giant robot, this form is later exposed as armor housing his true self: a small, elderly creature operating from within. He commands his forces from a spaceship and is frequently attended by small servant robots polishing his armor, underscoring his fixation on cleanliness and order.

As the primary antagonist, Gades directs the Gyandlar forces and their commanders throughout their campaign on Cronos. He enforces strict discipline through a ranking system where failure results in demotion. Despite his formidable presence, repeated defeats and the eventual unveiling of his fragile true form reveal his underlying vulnerability and the limits of his power.
