TV-Series
Description
Valdes, alternatively known as Baldez, stands as the primary antagonist within the series. He commands the title of the Dotsuku Zone's strongest warrior and leads the group called the Four Guardians. His narrative debut occurs early, marked by immediate and significant environmental upheaval—animal stampedes and structural collapses herald his arrival, signaling immense dark power.
Physically, Valdes possesses distinct traits: short black hair, pupil-less purple eyes, pale green-tinted skin, an elongated chin, and pointed ears. He typically dons a long, flowing robe featuring a dark purple outer layer over a reddish-maroon inner layer, cinched by a light brownish-gold waist sash. Armor-like embellishments adorn his forearms and lower legs, paired with light gray boots. Upon evolving, he sheds his robes; his ultimate state transforms his entire body dark purple with red eyes and hair loss, though retaining the signature elongated chin.
Valdes exhibits a strategic and observant personality. During his first encounter with Kujou Hikari, he instantly recognizes her as the embodiment of the Queen of Light's life. Rather than immediate combat, he tests Pretty Cure and Shiny Luminous by summoning a Zakenna to observe their abilities and tactics. Unlike his fellow guardians—Circulas, Uraganos, and Viblis—who aggressively target Shiny Luminous, Valdes prioritizes leveraging her power to accelerate the development and resurrection of the "boy in the mansion," later revealed as the life force of the resurrecting Evil King. This objective compels him to protect Shiny Luminous from other guardians when their actions jeopardize the boy's progress.
His role intensifies significantly later in the series. After the boy absorbs Hikari's power, Valdes attempts to eliminate her to prevent interference, though she is rescued. He then orchestrates the Evil King's resurrection within the Garden of Rainbows. Following the sacrificial destruction of the other guardians to disable the Pretty Cure's Sparkle Bracelets, Valdes merges with the resurrected Evil King, gaining unprecedented power and a new form. In this merged state, he battles Pretty Cure at immense size, seeking to obliterate the Garden of Rainbows. His defeat comes through the combined efforts of the resurrected Queen of Light and Pretty Cure's ultimate attack, Extreme Luminario Max, annihilating both him and the Evil King.
Valdes wields formidable combat abilities, repelling major attacks like Marble Screw Max, Heartiel Action, and Extreme Luminario. He generates destructive wind waves and temporarily withstands the upgraded Marble Screw Max Spark enabled by the Sparkle Bracelets, forcing an initial retreat. His resilience enables multiple returns throughout the conflict.
Beyond the series, Valdes reappears in his merged Evil King form within the film "Pretty Cure All Stars: Minna de Utau♪ Kiseki no Mahou!", where he faces defeat once more.
