Description
Wingstun is a Decepticon character from the Robotmasters series, assigned to monitor energy management among Decepticon forces. This practical approach extends to combat, where he specializes in striking from enemies' blind spots to incapacitate them with minimal effort and ammunition expenditure. He demonstrates a noted proficiency in handling the energies of the solitarium-powered Arsenal Force mega-weapon. Despite his professional demeanor, Wingstun maintains a friendship with the occasionally wasteful berserker Wrecker Hook.
Following Megatron's disappearance, Wingstun served within Starscream's Decepticon forces on Earth. Stationed at their underwater base, he and Air Hunter were dismissed by Starscream when another Megatron from a different time challenged his leadership. After Beast Megatron defeated Starscream and declared himself the new Decepticon leader, Wingstun subsequently served under his command.
Wingstun joined a Decepticon contingent led by Beast Megatron that pursued solitarium against the Autobots. Alongside Wrecker Hook, Psycho-Orb, and Air Hunter, he was later selected by Starscream to receive a solitarium-powered Arsenal Force weapon—the Jamming Trident—as part of a bid for leadership.
While on patrol with Air Hunter and Starscream, Wingstun attacked a mysterious Autobot lion but was beaten back by Bound Rogue and Optimus Primal. On another patrol with X-Gunner, he encountered an Autobot patrol and participated in a race instead of engaging in immediate combat, eventually dropping out. When the original Megatron returned, Wingstun was elated by the news and joined the other Decepticons in abandoning their base.
In other continuities, Wingstun worked under Straxus at Darkmount, where he taught flight skills to Straxus's experiment and would-be assassin, C-6 (later known as Convobat), and participated in training exercises. When Darkmount came under attack by Magna Convoy, Wingstun and Air Hunter attempted to fend off the attacker but were unsuccessful.
In the 2019 IDW continuity, Wingstun was a member of the Seekers within the Decepticon movement. While on patrol with Red Wing and Space Case, they spotted Termagax's mobile home, House. After Space Case was defeated by Termagax's defenses, Wingstun pursued Red Wing to make a report. He was later seen among the Seekers retreating after a struggle with Autobots over the Enigma of Combination. Subsequently, Wingstun participated in the massive assault on Crystal City led by Strika. While scouting the city ahead of the main force with Obsidian, he was ambushed by Sidetrack and decapitated.
The Wingstun toy is a redeco of the Machine Wars Basic Class Skywarp/Thundercracker mold, transforming from a Dassault Rafale fighter jet to a robot mode via a single-step, spring-loaded transformation. The toy includes an "Ambush Hit" two-part rifle and a unique clear-plastic "Jamming Trident" weapon, which can combine with other Decepticon solitarium weapons to form the Arsenal Force mega-weapon.
