Ayumi Sakagami is a kind and musically gifted middle school student with a deep connection to music. She plays the piano and aspires to become a professional pianist, a dream she shares with her close friend, Kanade.

While rushing to a piano recital she was to perform in with Kanade, Ayumi was hit by a truck. The incident left her in a comatose state, her spirit separated from her physical body. Drawn to a magical realm, she encountered a fairy-like being named Fuwari.

Fuwari granted Ayumi a temporary physical form and the ability to transform into the warrior Cure Echo, a transformation powered by the Melody of Happiness. Her mission was to travel across the worlds of the Pretty Cure multiverse to collect the scattered notes of a grand musical score. This score was necessary to perform the "Miracle Magic Melody," a powerful song required to restore balance and happiness to all worlds.

Cure Echo operated independently from other teams of Pretty Cures, appearing briefly in their worlds to accomplish her goal. Her actions were guided by a sense of duty and a desire to set things right, though she often expressed loneliness due to her solitary mission.

The successful performance of the Miracle Magic Melody released positive energy that acted as a catalyst for her recovery, allowing her spirit to return to her physical body and awakening her from the coma.

Upon waking, her memories of being Cure Echo and the events involving Fuwari became dreamlike and vague. She resumed her normal life, focusing on her recovery and piano studies with Kanade. The experience left her with a renewed appreciation for life and a strengthened determination to pursue her musical dreams alongside her friend.
