Description
Keith Fermin adopts the alias Spectra Phantom, emerging as the formidable leader and top Pyrus brawler of the antagonistic Vexos during Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia. His partner Bakugan is Helios, evolving from Pyrus Viper Helios to Cyborg Helios and later Helios MK2. Masked as Spectra, he wears a red mask featuring a voice modifier and a single blue iris display, a red feathered coat, and sports spiked blond hair, a stark contrast to his earlier identity with wavy pink hair and casual attire. His imposing, ruthless combat style earns him the Japanese moniker "Glacial Blaze."

As Spectra Phantom, he displays a cruel, power-hungry personality, pursuing victory through any means—including Forbidden Ability Cards and hostage-taking. His goals center on overthrowing Prince Hydron and later King Zenoheld to rule Vestal, and transforming Helios into the ultimate Bakugan by stealing the Perfect Core energy from Drago. Labeled a traitor by the Vexos, he betrays them, operating independently with his loyal aide Gus Grav. Despite his villainy, Spectra retains humanity through his protective bond with his sister Mira Fermin, whom he trained in Bakugan and for whom he later frees imprisoned Resistance members. His strategic cunning is evident in manipulations of allies and enemies, including attempts to recruit Dan Kuso.

Spectra is the son of Vexos researcher Clay Fermin and older brother of Resistance leader Mira. Witnessing his father torture Alpha Hydranoid sparks his obsession with Bakugan power dynamics and descent into villainy. Joining the Vexos, he adopts the Spectra identity, concealing his true self from all except Mira, revealed during a forced unmasking on Earth. This act triggers his eventual redemption, though he continues antagonistic actions, including capturing Drago and temporarily betraying Mira.

A final defeat by Dan Kuso prompts Spectra to abandon his villainous persona and reclaim his identity as Keith Fermin. He joins the Bakugan Battle Brawlers Resistance, sometimes donning the Spectra mask and outfit in battle, directing his ruthless tactics against former allies like Zenoheld. His redemption includes aiding the evacuation of New Vestroia during the Bakugan Termination System crisis and helping destroy the Alternative Weapon System, reconciling with Clay before Clay's apparent death.

In Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge, Keith Fermin returns as a Darkus brawler partnered with Darkus Infinity Helios. His appearance updates to a black mask with dual blue irises, a black coat with purple accents, and a modified hairstyle. Initially operating independently, he eventually joins the Battle Brawlers as their final member to combat Mag Mel and the Chaos Army. His strategic acumen remains sharp, devising plans against Nonet mechtogan and nearly sacrificing himself to aid allies escaping interspace. Despite his heroic turn, he retains Spectra's characteristic battle fervor and menacing grin, viewing the conflict as an engaging challenge. His relationship with Dan evolves into a brotherly dynamic, though he criticizes Dan's occasional overconfidence.

Keith ultimately serves as a protector of Earth and New Vestroia, using his scientific expertise to analyze threats like Mechtogan energy reserves and coordinating with Resistance allies. His enduring bond with Helios through all transformations cements his legacy as both the ruthless Spectra and the redeemed Keith Fermin.
