Cikapasi is an orphaned Ainu boy from a village near Otaru in Hokkaido, raised by village elders after smallpox claimed his parents and older siblings. His name means "he who makes birds fly," but also carries a secondary, humorous meaning related to an erect penis, derived from Ainu linguistic metaphors; this duality occasionally surfaces in his interactions.

He possesses long dark hair tied in a topknot, bushy eyebrows, and large eyes. He typically wears traditional Ainu attire, including an attus garment, tekunpe hand coverings, hoop earrings, and deerskin boots (oryukker) in cold weather. Shorter and lighter than Asirpa, he often appears barefoot.

Curious and easily impressed by skilled feats like hunting, Cikapasi struggles with social isolation, rarely playing with other village children due to his orphaned status and feelings of neglect. He exhibits a perverted side, showing interest in women's breasts, notably Inkarmat's, sometimes drawing comedic reprimands from others like Tanigaki.

His story begins when he encounters Genjirou Tanigaki and Makanakkuru during a deer hunt. Amazed by Tanigaki's marksmanship, Cikapasi assists them and later follows Tanigaki and Inkarmat to Barato, seeking purpose and family. When Tanigaki initially sends him back, Cikapasi reveals no one awaits him, prompting Inkarmat to suggest they pose as a family to avoid suspicion. This arrangement excites Cikapasi, who fantasizes about their familial roles.

His dependence on Inkarmat grows during their journey, contrasting with Tanigaki's reluctance to rely on her. Cikapasi's presence influences Tanigaki's decisions, such as intervening when Inkarmat is threatened, reinforcing their makeshift family. In the Shiton Anehata arc, Cikapasi locates Asirpa to warn her of Tanigaki's peril, showcasing his resourcefulness.

In the Journey to Karafuto arc, Cikapasi, alongside Enonoka and Ryu, rescues Enonoka's dog from a Russian household. A wolverine attack during their escape causes Cikapasi to fall off skis. Sugimoto distracts the animal while Tanigaki assists Cikapasi in killing it, though Cikapasi admits his eyes were closed during the shot. Enonoka later gifts him a hohciri ornament, explaining Karafuto Ainu boys wear it until age ten or soloing a wolverine.

During the Karafuto Circus arc, Cikapasi separates from Sugimoto's group with Tanigaki to find Kiroranke, angered by Kiroranke's attack on Inkarmat. He performs in the circus as part of a giant spinning top act, vomiting from the motion but drawing crowd admiration. He later assists Sugimoto's harakiri act by pouring water on him, growing bored and commenting on the realism of stage blood. Unaware of real danger, he continues his role during a Russian assassination attempt on Sugimoto.

In the Border Crossing arc, Cikapasi endures a blizzard with Sugimoto, Tanigaki, and Ryu. Separated, they shelter under a sled, huddling with dogs for warmth. Tanigaki shares mochi to maintain heat, and Cikapasi worries about the dogs. They spot a lighthouse, leading them to a Russian couple's home where Cikapasi helps prepare food and learns the Russian word "vkusno" (delicious).

Cikapasi's development reflects gradual integration into group dynamics, evolving from a character revealing Tanigaki's backstory to a proactive member. His bond with Enonoka deepens through shared experiences, and his resilience in harsh environments underscores adaptability. Creator Satoru Noda noted Cikapasi's role in exploring themes of belonging amid historical upheaval, aiming for his eventual happiness.

He enjoys bean snacks but dislikes salmon eyeballs. In a 2018 popularity poll, he ranked 38th with 838 votes.
