Description
Elizabeth Frankenstein is Victor Frankenstein's wife and Emily's mother, inhabiting the domestic sphere of their family home. She shows concern for Victor's increasingly disturbed mental state after he creates the monster and returns home. Her narrative concludes when villagers pursuing the monster ignite a forest fire; amidst the chaos, the monster attempts to rescue her but arrives too late, and Elizabeth dies engulfed by the flames.

Her death profoundly impacts others. Victor interprets her demise as his creation's deliberate act of violence, driving his obsessive hunt to destroy the monster. This conviction accelerates his mental deterioration and leads to his suicide. Conversely, the blind grandfather clarifies to Emily that Elizabeth perished due to the fire and circumstances, not the monster's malice. Elizabeth primarily establishes Victor's familial connections and motivates his actions after her death, aligning with the narrative's supportive spouse archetype.
