Description
Diao Chan plays a pivotal role in the downfall of Dong Zhuo. Her character originates from a fictionalized account inspired by historical tensions between Dong Zhuo and Lü Bu over an unnamed courtesan. Portrayed as a ward of Han official Wang Yun, she joins his conspiracy to eliminate the tyrannical Dong Zhuo.

Wang Yun's plan exploits romantic jealousy, presenting Diao Chan simultaneously to both Dong Zhuo and Lü Bu as an object of affection. She cultivates a relationship with Lü Bu while formally becoming Dong Zhuo's concubine, creating a rift between the two men. Her actions include staging suicide attempts and expressing distress to manipulate Lü Bu's emotions, ultimately convincing him of Dong Zhuo's betrayal. This manipulation culminates in Lü Bu assassinating Dong Zhuo during a ceremony intended as an imperial abdication, a trap set by Wang Yun.

Following Dong Zhuo's death, Diao Chan departs Chang'an alongside Lü Bu as his forces retreat from retaliatory attacks by Dong Zhuo's loyalists. Her involvement in later events, such as the Battle of Xiapi where Lü Bu dies, receives minimal elaboration.

Within the narrative scope of "Eiyū-tachi no Yoake," Diao Chan's ultimate fate remains unresolved. The film concludes her arc after the successful assassination and escape, without depicting subsequent events. While historical and folk traditions offer varied endings for her—including execution, suicide, marriage, or becoming a nun—none are depicted or confirmed within this specific adaptation.
