Description
Re Minosse serves as the implacable Judge of the Damned in *Dante's Inferno: An Animated Epic*, drawing from his Greek mythological origins as a King of Crete who became an underworld judge. Residing in Limbo, he determines the eternal punishment of condemned souls. He assesses their dominant sins through scent, smelling their corruption, then wraps his tail around himself a number of times equal to the designated circle of Hell. Sentenced souls are impaled onto a massive spiked torture wheel; spinning it propels them into their assigned circle.

He appears as a massive, monstrous entity: withered, elderly, and blind, relying on heightened senses of smell and touch. A large skeletal crown is fused to his head. His form features scaled shoulder guards, a squid-like torso with a pale pinkish protrusion, and chains made of damned corpses.

Re Minosse possesses key supernatural abilities:
* **Supernatural Smell**: Detects and identifies sins through scent, preventing deception.
* **Superhuman Strength and Speed**: Moves swiftly despite size, using his tail for rapid underground strikes.
* **Minion Summoning**: Commands lower-ranked demons in combat.
* **Aerokinesis**: Generates powerful whirlwinds with his roar, capable of knocking foes into chasms.
* **Nigh-Invulnerability**: Scaly hide resists damage, though his abdomen and eyes remain vulnerable.

During the film, Dante confronts Re Minosse in Limbo, demanding Beatrice's location. Re Minosse detects Dante's sins of treachery, gluttony, and murder, dismisses him, and warns him to turn back. Provoked by Dante's defiance, he attacks. The battle concludes when Dante forces Re Minosse's tongue onto the spikes of his own torture wheel; spinning the wheel splits his face in half, killing him. His death causes damned souls to flee his domain, potentially disrupting Hell's order and incurring Lucifer's displeasure. His dialogue reinforces his role as an implacable arbiter, snarling phrases like "Who comes into my house of pain?" and condemning Dante as "Liar," "Blasphemer," and "Traitor".
