Description
Mikuni Arisuin, also romanized as Mikuni Alicein, is a character from the series Servamp. He is the Eve of Doubt Doubt, the Servamp of Envy, and the older half-brother of Misono Alicein. Mikuni was born as the firstborn son of the wealthy and aristocratic Alicein family, raised in privilege with a private education under a house tutor who later turned out to be Misono’s mother, as well as instruction from a family servant named Hattori. He displayed remarkable intelligence from a young age and was a skilled chess player, often beating both Hattori and his father. His early life took a dramatic turn when his mother, consumed by jealousy over his father’s affair with the tutor, murdered Misono’s mother. Misono was then brought into the household, and Mikuni gained a younger brother. Despite knowing that Misono was the child of the affair, Mikuni grew to genuinely love him and did not blame him for the circumstances. However, he developed deep resentment toward his father, whom he held responsible for betraying his mother. Seven years before the main events of the story, Mikuni’s mother lost control of the power of Doubt Doubt, which had been overflowing within her. Driven by jealousy, she attempted to kill Misono. To protect his brother, Mikuni killed his mother, an act witnessed by Misono. Despite the trauma, Misono helped Mikuni and Doubt Doubt flee the manor. Mikuni then formed a contract with Doubt Doubt, renaming him Jeje, and permanently left the Alicein household. Afterward, he lived on the streets until he was discovered by Tsurugi Kamiya, a young member of the C3 organization. Tsurugi took him in, and Mikuni eventually joined C3, sharing quarters with Tsurugi and serving on the same team. Their relationship later soured; Mikuni developed hatred toward Tsurugi because of the latter’s willingness to kill humans as well as vampires. The full circumstances of his departure from C3 remain unclear, though it was hinted that he maintained some connection with the organization’s upper leadership. In the present, Mikuni runs an antique shop while secretly monitoring the movements of all Servamps and their Eves alongside Jeje. He is depicted with short blond hair, brown eyes, and a flamboyant sense of style, often wearing a dark brown hat with a red band, a brown vest, a white shirt, a scarf, and decorative clip-on plaits. He almost always carries a small female doll named Abel, toward which he shows deep affection and protectiveness. This doll also serves as a component of his weapon. Mikuni’s personality is layered and contradictory. On the surface, he appears childish, eccentric, and obsessed with his doll, often misinterpreting others’ looks as inappropriate interest in it. He can be playful and flamboyant, but this demeanor hides a cunning, manipulative, and pragmatic nature. Beneath the eccentricity, he is mature, perceptive, and calculating. From childhood, he demonstrated strategic thinking and a capacity for manipulation. He shows little hesitation in taking lives when he judges someone to be too dangerous, revealing a ruthless side. This duality defines his role as both an unpredictable ally and a dangerous adversary. His motivations are rooted in protecting those he cares about and maintaining order according to his own principles. He views himself as someone who must deal with threats decisively, even if it means using violent methods. His actions are driven by a complex mix of love for his brother, resentment toward his father, and a desire to control the chaotic forces of the Servamps. Mikuni plays a significant role in the conflicts surrounding the Servamps and their Eves, particularly through his complex family ties and his strained relationship with Misono. He initially appears as an ally who offers guidance, but his true allegiance remains ambiguous, and he often pursues his own agenda. Key relationships include his father Mikado Alicein, with whom his bond was once close but became strained after the affair; his half-brother Misono, whom he loves deeply but whose relationship was damaged by the traumatic events of their mother’s death; his Servamp Jeje, with whom he works closely; and Tsurugi Kamiya, with whom he had a complicated history of camaraderie turned antagonism. Mikuni also demonstrates an attachment to his doll Abel that goes beyond simple sentiment, as it is integral to his combat ability. His development throughout the story involves confronting his past, his feelings toward Misono, and his own moral boundaries. He struggles with guilt and self-blame, yet remains determined to act according to his own judgment. As the story progresses, his relationship with Misono is explored further, with Misono learning the truth about the past and grappling with conflicted feelings. Mikuni’s notable abilities as an Eve include his Lead, named My Fair Lady. It manifests as a rope connected to his doll Abel. In combat, a spectral female figure appears holding the rope, which extends from Abel to the target’s neck. Once bound, the weight of Abel increases proportionally to the burden of the target’s sins. This effect can strangle the victim, killing them outright or, in the case of vampire subclasses, restraining them until Jeje delivers the final blow. The ability functions only against individuals who have taken human lives, reflecting Mikuni’s belief in judging the guilty. Additionally, Mikuni is highly intelligent, a skilled chess player, and possibly able to play the violin. He is described as enjoying reading and having a strategic mind that makes him a formidable figure in the conflicts of the series.
