Description
Hikaru Shibayama, a high school student, leads a club focused on the supernatural. He claims minor telekinetic abilities, securing his status within the group. These powers initially spark excitement, especially after he receives an invitation to demonstrate them on television. However, his confidence falters following the arrival of transfer student Ryou Tsukano. Tsukano displays significantly stronger telekinesis and begins manifesting increasingly bizarre phenomena—flowers with human eyes and spontaneously appearing waterfalls—that unsettle the club.
Shibayama becomes withdrawn, expressing doubt about his suitability for the TV appearance and questioning if his powers are impressive enough. This psychological decline culminates in his disappearance. His fate is linked to a mysterious waterfall discovered by Tsukano, believed to enhance supernatural abilities. Club member Kiyoshi Kitagawa claims to see Shibayama's ghost at the waterfall's base and asserts Shibayama deliberately jumped to his death. Conversely, Tsukano suggests the death was accidental, occurring while Shibayama attempted to bathe in the waterfall's enhancing waters. A later revelation indicates Kitagawa may have pushed Shibayama, motivated by jealousy over the TV invitation.
After death, Shibayama returns as a gigantic, grotesque zombie with terrifyingly amplified telekinesis. He confronts former club members, including Maiko (who harbored feelings for him), at her home. His reanimated form attempts to kill Kitagawa by telekinetically crushing him under a stone statue. Kitagawa, however, having gained superhuman strength from the same waterfall, destroys Shibayama by slamming him into a wall.
Following Tsukano's departure from the town, all supernatural phenomena vanish, reverting the town to its original state. Shibayama does not return to life. His death permanently fractures the club, leading to its dissolution and leaving lingering uncertainty among the remaining members regarding Tsukano's influence and the truth of Shibayama's demise.
