Description
Manino Giordani, a renowned chef, joins the Celebrity Five, human criminals serving Loki Laufeyson directly. He uniquely wears a full face mask within the group. Giordani commits crimes primarily to protect his reputation, frequently panicking when it's endangered or the group risks exposure. He specializes in energy-based DISKs, commanding villains like Diablo and Graviton.
His early missions involve hunting children accidentally given biocodes during the Raft incident. He captures Jessica Shannon, imprisoning her with Edward Grant aboard the Celebrity Five's ship. In one operation, he commands Diablo to mind-control Hulk into attacking an Air Force Base, a plan foiled by the Avengers. When the Avengers rescue Edward, Jessica, and Spider-Man, Giordani flees with Loki and the other members.
Later, accompanying Tim Gilliam to a space center to retrieve a DISK, he deploys Graviton against the Avengers. Edward and Hulk thwart this effort too. Following Loki's initial defeat at the Ice Palace, Giordani is arrested, breaking down in tears during transport due to the imprisonment. Crossbones breaks out the Celebrity Five, steals their Biocodes, and forcibly recruits them into Hydra. Giordani resents this role. Assigned with Abomination to guard a Gaia Anchor, he ultimately helps Edward and Hulk destroy it, aligning with the group's desire for Red Skull's failure.
After Red Skull's defeat and Hydra's dissolution, Giordani becomes a fugitive, struggling severely with his lost reputation and public standing. The group attempts to salvage valuables from their old lair when Loki contacts them from another dimension. Loki restores their biocodes, ordering an attack on a security conference to steal energy from Iron Man's Build Up Armor. Under Ronin's leadership, Giordani participates in stealing the Treasures of Darkness to power the Dark Gate device, intended to open a portal to the Dark Dimension and free Dormammu. During this period, he acquires Dr. Strange's DISK. The Avengers trap him by challenging his culinary reputation, luring him into a cook-off with Chris posing as an Italian chef. Discovering the ruse, Giordani fights using Diablo and three Destroyers but loses, resulting in the confiscation of Dr. Strange's DISK and all his other villains.
Loki and Dormammu promise Giordani a seat in their rule of Earth for his assistance. However, after the Dark Dimension portal opens, they betray him, and Dormammu drags him into the Dark Dimension. Following Loki and Dormammu's defeat, Giordani and the other Celebrity Five members escape the Dark Dimension and remain at large, though the specifics of their escape are unclear.
