Description
Janus Tepes is the infant son of Count Dracula and the mortal woman Dolores, conceived when Dracula rescued Dolores from a satanic ritual in Boston where she was intended as Satan's bride. Born on Christmas Eve in Boston, his arrival symbolized potential change for Dracula's cursed existence.

Shortly after his birth, the Fellowship of the Black Mass—a Satan-worshipping cult seeking vengeance against Dracula—lured the family to their church under the guise of baptizing Janus. During the confrontation, a cult priest fatally shot the infant. Janus was buried, devastating his parents. Dracula retreated into hiding while Dolores descended into suicidal despair.

In her grief, Dolores attempted suicide. This act prompted divine intervention: God resurrected Janus, transforming him directly from infancy into a golden-skinned adult. He gained supernatural abilities to counter Dracula's evil, including energy projection, transformation into a large golden hawk, and the power to inflict pain on his father with a glance. As Heaven's agent, Janus confronted Dracula to prevent further corruption but was defeated in their first battle.

Janus's mission intensified after Satan stripped Dracula of his vampiric powers, rendering him mortal. When Dracula sought to regain his powers by contacting other vampires in Transylvania, Janus pursued him. In Transylvania, Dracula regained his vampiric abilities. Bound by divine mandate to act only if Dracula remained a vampire, Janus attempted to kill him. During this confrontation, the vampire hunter Hans Harker (renamed Quincy Harker) destroyed Dracula and his castle, thwarting Janus's objective.

Janus returned to Dolores to relay his father's fate. God then reversed his physical age, returning him to his original infant state to be raised anew by Dolores, closing his arc with a return to innocence.

In the comic book lore (Earth-616), Janus's origin diverges: he was born to Dracula and Domini through magical means and killed accidentally during a battle involving vampire hunters. Domini resurrected him by merging his body with the Golden Angel, an entity claiming to serve Heaven. This Janus also instantly aged to adulthood, gained similar powers (flight, energy blasts, teleportation), and clashed with Dracula before the angelic entity abandoned him and he reverted to infancy. He was later kidnapped by the vampire lord Varnae and faced conflicts during the "Curse of the Mutants" storyline.
