Description
Rael Kertia is a pure-blood Noble of the Kertia clan, serving as the younger brother of Rajak Kertia and son of Ragar Kertia. He displays the typical Noble physical traits: red eyes, blonde hair, a notably slender build, and pale complexion. His age surpasses 500 years, yet he retains a youthful appearance consistent with his race.
Initially ambitious and harsh, Rael harbors deep disdain for humans and struggles to restrain violent impulses toward them. He frequently overestimates his own abilities in battle, underestimates opponents, and becomes emotionally compromised during combat, leading to tactical errors. Despite these flaws, he wields exceptional speed, power, and combat skills, formidable even among Nobles. His signature weapon is Grandia, a pair of daggers forming one half of the Kertia clan's split soul weapon Kartas. Their father allocated Grandia to Rael and the other half to Rajak, an arrangement both brothers accepted.
Rael volunteers for a mission to retrieve Seira J. Loyard from the human world, confronting Frankenstein. Employing stealth attacks, he sustains injuries, revealing vulnerability despite his confidence. His complex relationship with Rajak surfaces when Rajak offers to relinquish clan leadership, though Rael declines. The brothers share mutual loyalty; Rajak's later sacrifice to protect Lukedonia fuels Rael's commitment to their clan's honor.
A pivotal shift occurs when Rael allies with Seira against Ignes Kravei and her anti-clan leader weapons. Initially resisting collaboration, he intervenes to save Seira from fatal attacks, displaying newfound protective instincts. Their combined efforts falter against overwhelming forces, resulting in Seira's capture and Rael's severe injuries. This defeat prompts him to pursue Ignes to Roctis' Island, leaving a trail for allies.
Exposure to Raizel's principles further evolves Rael. He develops respect for Raizel and participates in training sessions with Frankenstein's household to refine his abilities. During the invasion of Lukedonia by traitor Nobles and Werewolves, he fights alongside Regis K. Landegre and others. His most significant development culminates in a self-sacrificial act: confronting multiple enemies to protect Regis and Lukedonia, ultimately sustaining fatal wounds. This final stand signifies his transition from self-interest to upholding the Kertia clan's legacy of loyalty.
