Crumplezone is a Decepticon from the planet Velocitron, also called the Speed Planet. His immense size and physical power make him the brawn to his partner Ransack's scheming nature. Though not intelligent, he is exceptionally fast for his size, capable of near-supersonic speeds. His primary function is that of a thug and enforcer, specializing in crashing through obstacles without hesitation. He transforms into a three-wheeled Cybertronic race car equipped with large turbine thrusters that can fire high-explosive slugs over great distances. His history is defined by his partnership with Ransack. The duo were known troublemakers on Velocitron before Megatron coerced them into servitude to acquire the planet's Cyber Planet Key. Under Megatron's command, they terrorized other Velocitronians like Brakedown and Clocker and manipulated Dirt Boss during the Planet Cup race. Their attempts to cheat and steal the Planet Cup ended in defeat by Hot Shot and Override. After failing to secure the key, Crumplezone followed Megatron off-world to continue the search for the remaining Cyber Planet Keys. He fought on Earth and Cybertron against Autobots and the renegade Decepticons loyal to Starscream. During these conflicts, a swarm of Scrapmetal creatures overwhelmed and nearly destroyed him, though Megatron later revived and upgraded him. The campaign moved to Gigantion, where Crumplezone suffered a series of humiliating defeats, including being outsmarted by a human child and blasted through multiple city layers by Optimus Prime. When Megatron, reborn as Galvatron, acquired the ultimate power of the Omega Lock and Cyber Planet Keys, he enlarged Crumplezone and other lackeys to gigantic proportions to defend against a united army of Autobots and their allies. Despite this increase in power, coordinated attacks forced Crumplezone to flee. Following Galvatron's final defeat and his revelation that he would have sacrificed them all, Crumplezone, Ransack, and Thunderblast abandoned him. In a significant shift, they assisted the Autobots and Jungle Planet citizens in righting a falling planetary engine to prevent a catastrophe, deciding to try being heroes on the winning side. Their attempt at reform was short-lived. The trio, later joined by Thundercracker, traveled across different worlds but failed to find a place to belong. They eventually cobbled together a makeshift rocket on Earth and left for space, declaring themselves the New Decepticon Army. Their journey ended comically with a crash landing on Mars. Outside the main narrative, a character named Crumplezone exists in the *Transformers: Animated* continuity. In this reality, he is an Autobot, not a Decepticon, but is still dim-witted and easily influenced by his partner Ransack. Their brief appearance involved being pursued for petty crimes by the law enforcement officer Cheetor. An earlier, unrelated Mini-Con named Crumplezone existed as a partner to Cyclonus in the *Transformers: Armada* continuity. Crumplezone's design includes a Cyber Key power that activates his twin turbine bazookas, swinging them forward and triggering electronic sound effects in both vehicle and robot modes. A retooled toy, Dark Crumplezone, features a more angular, stealth-inspired design but retains the same functionality.
