Master Megatron emerges from the *Transformers: Cybertron* continuity as an upgraded evolution of Megatron. He escaped imprisonment within a collapsing sun—now a black hole endangering the universe—and fused with remnants of Unicron’s shattered form. This merger amplified his power with the dark god’s essence, granting enhanced abilities and a new designation, though he remained primarily known as Megatron or Galvatron.
Operating from a fiery pocket dimension, he relentlessly pursued the four Cyber Planet Keys, ancient artifacts capable of sealing the black hole. His objective was to corrupt their power, accelerating universal degeneration through the black hole to obliterate all existence. He intended to then reshape reality under his absolute command via the Omega Lock, the device channeling the keys’ energy. To locate the Omega Lock on Earth, he deployed subordinates like Starscream and Thundercracker, while he personally hunted the keys across distant worlds.
On Velocitron, the Speed Planet, he enlisted native rogues Ransack and Crumplezone, identifying the planet’s racing trophy as the first key. After failing to defeat the planet’s ruler, Override, in a high-speed race for information, he delegated the hunt to his recruits and pivoted to the Jungle Planet. There, he allied with the planet’s ruler, Scourge, to seize the second key. Both missions collapsed under Autobot interference.
His quest for the third key unraveled due to betrayal by Starscream, though specifics of this treachery and later events involving the fourth key remain undocumented. Throughout these campaigns, he leveraged his Unicron-augmented form and manipulated planetary factions, driven solely by his ambition to dominate the reborn cosmos.
