TV-Series
Description
Christopher "Chris" Peeper, originally named Sho Asuka, anchors both seasons. The son of archaeologist Professor Fred Peeper and Phoebe Peeper, his home becomes the stage for pivotal events. While cleaning the attic with his neighbor and best friend, Joy, Chris discovers the magical Superbook Bible. This artifact repeatedly transports him, Joy, and his clockwork toy Gizmo back to biblical times, immersing them in Old and New Testament events.

Initially lazy and resistant to schoolwork and chores, Chris's attempts to shirk duties often spark clashes with his father. Experiencing biblical stories firsthand through Superbook sparks his gradual transformation, fostering a more responsible attitude. His bond with Joy involves teasing and minor conflicts, mixed with hints of deeper affection; Joy sometimes shows jealousy when Chris admires figures like Eve or Rebekah.

Chris sports black spiky hair and dark brown eyes. His attire includes a blue jacket over a yellow undershirt, blue pants with dark knee patches, a black belt sporting a red buckle, light yellow socks, and black shoes. By Season 2, set two years later, he appears taller.

Season 2 shifts Chris's role dramatically. After Superbook falls onto a computer, gaining the ability to display historical events, his dog Ruffles is pulled into a biblical timeline. Chris mostly remains in the present, actively monitoring the computer to track his younger cousin Uriah "Uri" Peeper (adapted as his brother in Japanese) and the now full-sized, operational Gizmo built by Uri's father. Chris guides their search for Ruffles and devises excuses for Uri's absences. His direct participation in biblical journeys lessens significantly, though he briefly rejoins Joy for the final two episodes' adventures. Season 1 concluded with Phoebe Peeper's pregnancy, yet Season 2 leaves this development unaddressed in the English dub.
