Description
Tetsunosuke Jō recurs across both seasons as the dedicated guardian of the Phoenix Stage. This unique T-shaped arena demands immense power and endurance from competitors aiming to strike targets behind spinning fences. Standing 183cm tall and weighing 82kg, he possesses dark blue hair and wears a red undershirt, boots, a green over cloak, and a distinctive gold headband embedded with rubies. His design reflects Eiji Inuki's artistic take on Oda Nobunaga. Born August 9th with blood type O, his personality blends friendliness with pronounced confidence that can verge into cockiness. This self-assurance sometimes sparks overexcitement in battle, leading to lapses in focus. He shares a martial arts background and training history with Terry McScotty, marking them as former partners.
Tetsunosuke makes a major impact during the Winners Tournament qualifiers as "Player X," achieving a perfect score of 100 and disrupting broadcasts with his firing power. As Phoenix Stage guardian, he faces Bull Borgnine in a challenge, demonstrating skill but also revealing his tendency to lose focus in prolonged fights; Bull's defeat results from external interference, not direct skill superiority. Later, he aids Terry McScotty against the Neo Shadow Alliance, defending Terry's home and providing his Blaster Core skeleton after Terry's Wing Ninja is destroyed, enabling Terry's quest for legendary parts at Lake B-Daman. During this conflict, he confronts a Cyborg Samurai B-DaPlayer and requires rescue by Terry wielding the Wing Sword.
In the second season, he trains and competes in tournaments alongside Terry, Yamato, and Gunnos. He enters a trap-shooting competition for the Metal Shot strike shot but does not win. Subsequently, he defeats Terry in a challenge to obtain the Random Shot strike shot. This victory draws Haja, who steals the Random Shot. When Haja attacks Terry with a poisonous special move, Tetsunosuke pushes Terry aside and takes the hit himself. This sacrificial act appears fatal, his final words urging Terry to continue in the championships. Contrary to appearances, he survives and reappears after Terry's loss to Feresu in the final match.
His B-Daman is Hououfudoumaru, utilizing generic yellow B-DaBalls. His battle record includes victories against Neo Shadow Alliance soldiers and Bull Borgnine (under specific circumstances), losses to Haja and in the Metal Shot tournament, and inconclusive matches against Terry and a Cyborg opponent.
