Description
Kana Iriya, a high school transfer student cloaked in enigma, drifts through campus life marked by aloof detachment and unexplained absences. Her solitude stems from a clandestine role in humanity’s shadow war against extraterrestrial forces, a conflict rooted in 1947, where she pilots the advanced Black Manta fighter jet. The aircraft’s relentless demands ravage her body, triggering seizures, unconscious spells, and chronic nosebleeds.

Raised under militarized discipline, her grasp of social cues remains frayed, deepening her isolation. A cryptic school incident and a silver wrist bead—paired with daily medication—hint at experimental augmentations tied to her combat duties.

Her guarded world fractures after a near-drowning at the school pool, where the protagonist rescues her. Tentatively drawn to him, she joins the newspaper club, leaving cryptic trinkets in his locker as fragile gestures of connection.

Despite her frail physique, she conceals a dagger, wielded decisively against an assailant—an act shrouded in unresolved consequences. Her health deteriorates further, demanding emergency chest injections of opaque origin.

Two figures—a man posing as her brother and an undercover intelligence agent—orbit her life, balancing paternal vigilance with ruthless enforcement of her wartime duties. Their presence underscores her dual status: a strategic asset and a pawn stripped of autonomy.

Fragile bonds emerge as she navigates unspoken rivalries, culminating in an unexpected friendship forged during a raucous food challenge. This tentative camaraderie mirrors her fragile steps toward normalcy. The narrative closes without resolution, lingering on the haunting toll of her sacrifices, her fate suspended in ambiguity.
