OVA
Description
Jouji Gouda transfers to Hakuryo High School after his previous school's baseball team disbands. He arrives determined to join Hakuryo's team and reach the Koshien tournament, an impractical goal given his status as a third-year student with no remaining eligibility. On his first day, he instantly falls for class representative Akane Suzumiya and publicly proposes to her. Despite her repeated rejections and visible annoyance at his relentless pursuit, he remains steadfastly devoted to winning her affection.

Jouji exudes relentless optimism, hot-blooded enthusiasm, and simple-mindedness. He frequently retreats into elaborate fantasy sequences inspired by super robot anime, envisioning himself as a hero pilot battling antagonists symbolizing real-life obstacles, like a figure representing Takayuki from Akane's past. His actions often trigger comedic mishaps, misinterpreting Akane's polite gestures as romantic interest—an early example being her simple handshake. His clumsy and unconventional romantic efforts consistently lead to public embarrassments or disciplinary issues, ultimately causing his transfer from Class 3-D (supervised by Yuuko Kouzuki) to Class 3-B (supervised by Marimo Jinguuji). There, seated beside Takeru Shirogane, he interacts with central figures like Sumika Kagami, Kei Ayamine, and Mikoto Yoroi, assigning them nicknames based on exaggerated traits.

His character arc diverges across official media. In the visual novel's narrative path, Akane eventually acknowledges possible feelings for him, though she questions if this stems from his resemblance to her sister's ex-boyfriend. Heartbroken by this, Jouji briefly shifts his affection to Sumika after she comforts him, only to have those hopes dashed when she reunites with Takeru. An alternate "true route" transforms him into the superhero Dimension Knight Tekkumen to battle aliens, facilitated by gym teacher Umeda—later revealed as an alien himself.

Regardless of the storyline, Jouji's departure from Hakuryo High remains consistent. The visual novel suggests Meiya Mitsurugi orchestrated his transfer as compensation for his emotional ordeal. The OVA adaptation modifies this: Akane announces plans to study abroad, and Meiya subsequently arranges Jouji's exit via limousine. Baseball aspirations are cited as the nominal reason for his transfer, though the narratives imply his removal resolves ongoing disruptions at the school.
