OVA
Description
Seimei Abe emerges as the narrative's central antagonist. Originating from Japan's Heian period, he rules an Oni capital established within the ruins of Heian-kyo (later Kyoto). From this seat of power, he commands Oni forces waging war across Japan, placing him in direct conflict with historical figures like Minamoto no Raiko.
Driven by profound cruelty and existential dissatisfaction, Seimei dominates lands and subordinates in a relentless quest for meaning. An encounter with the Getter Robo and its pilots ignites an obsession within him, perceiving them as worthy adversaries. This fixation compels him to shatter temporal boundaries, transporting himself to the modern era for a direct confrontation following an initial defeat in his own time.
Seimei's power stems from Onmyōdō mystic arts. These allow him to command Oni, imposing order upon their savage nature to orchestrate military campaigns. He conjures diverse shikigami, manifesting as crystalline projectiles that unleash flames or restraints capable of immobilizing foes. A signature defensive technique generates a potent five-pointed barrier, resistant to most assaults save for sustained high-energy attacks like the Getter Beam. His most formidable ability involves merging with colossal Oni entities, drastically augmenting his physical and mystical strength for large-scale conflict.
During the Heian era, Seimei merged with a Kiju named Onijuoh, gaining immense power sufficient to overwhelm the Getter Robo’s third formation. Following defeat and displacement through a temporal portal, he resurfaces in the modern era fused with additional Oni and his aides into a gestalt entity called Seimei Robo. This form massively amplifies his destructive capacity, enabling the rapid devastation of areas like Shinjuku. He battles the Getter team extensively within this form until finally being destroyed by a concentrated Getter Beam.
In his final moments, he issues a warning to the Getter team's leader, Ryoma Nagare, declaring the inherent peril within Getter energy as an endless hell destined to consume its users. His narrative concludes with this admonition, framing his quest for meaningful battle as intrinsically linked to the Getter’s destructive legacy.
