Description
Mana is a small, tanuki-like, expressive-faced creature possessing wings, distinct facial markings, and handcuffs perpetually adorning her wrists. She functions as the mascot of Granvania National Star God Academy and becomes the guide for protagonist Itsuki Yuge following his summoning to Granvania. Her origins trace back to being an impurity that consumed human blood; captured and sentenced to death, she was spared by a previous God's Gift, Shangri-La. Overwhelmed by gratitude for his mercy, she suppressed her inherent bloodlust, integrated into society, and developed fierce loyalty to him.

Mischievous and crass, Mana frequently makes sexually suggestive remarks or jokes, often fixating on others' virginity or relationships. Despite this provocative demeanor, she exhibits moments of seriousness and provides practical aid, such as offering her personal savings to Itsuki after his funds are stolen. She accompanies him into labyrinths, offering guidance on navigating Granvania, though the usefulness of her advice fluctuates.

Within the game's narrative, Mana's backstory unfolds during the "Seven Academy Mysteries" storyline, revealing her past as an impurity and her profound bond with Shangri-La. Her character arc includes potential endings where she sacrifices herself in the final battle and is reborn in human form using Star Fragments. In this human state, she accompanies Itsuki back to his world, striving to adapt to human life while retaining her distinctive speech patterns and personality quirks.

The anime adaptation amplifies Mana's perverted traits, portraying her as more overtly raunchy and generally less helpful than her game counterpart. Her actions occasionally assist Itsuki in befriending Star Maidens but also generate friction. She develops romantic feelings for Itsuki after he unintentionally mirrors her methods, leading to jealousy and a deeper emotional attachment. During the climax, she sacrifices herself to shield Itsuki from Chaos, is later revived as a human, and joins him and the Star Maidens on their return journey, maintaining her core personality.

Trivia notes reveal early design concepts considered modeling her after animals like birds or rabbits, though a red panda was ultimately chosen. Early sketches included a ball-and-chain accessory matching her handcuffs. In both game and anime endings featuring her human form, official materials depict her nude or minimally clothed.
