Academically unremarkable, he embodies the average, mediocre student devoid of any exceptional traits. His ordinary existence shifts dramatically when the mysterious Eilietta Lash approaches and challenges him to a card battle. During their confrontation, Eilietta unveils her true nature as an ultra-high-performance artificial intelligence, a Codeman. She proposes a partnership to compete together in THE ZENON, the global championship tournament for the ZENOZARD card battle game. Despite initial reluctance, Souta ultimately agrees to become Eilietta's human partner, known as a Concord. Their newly formed alliance immediately faces its first trial: a battle against Souta's highly prominent and skilled schoolmate, Shion Saionji, and her Codeman partner Ash Claude.
