Description
Yoshizō Yukawa, occasionally referenced as Kōzō Yukawa, was a 35-year-old Japanese public servant and dedicated hot spring enthusiast before his demise. Operating under the alias "Onsen Manju III," he spent his life seeking hidden hot springs to boost local economies, an endeavor that tragically ended when he fell from a cliff.

Following his death, an Inari deity of harvest linked to a small, rock-enshrined sanctuary reincarnated him into a fantasy realm rich in natural hot springs. However, its inhabitants harbored misconceptions, believing some springs cursed or shunning communal bathing. Retaining his expertise and fervor, Yoshizō immediately pursued his passion, exploring this new world to locate and champion hot springs.

He partnered with Mayudama, the attendant princess and messenger of the Inari deity who facilitated his rebirth. Together, they worked to correct local misunderstandings, advocating for communal bathing and dispelling superstitious fears about cursed waters. Yoshizō's approach was direct, often urging proper etiquette with statements like "Take off your clothes and get naked."

His activities frequently involved encounters and collaborations with the realm's diverse non-human inhabitants, including elves and other mythical beings. These interactions centered on discovering new springs, addressing local concerns about their properties, and sharing the rejuvenating benefits of communal bathing. This ongoing mission formed the core of his journey, termed his "hot spring road."

Physically, Yoshizō is an adult male with black hair cut to ear length and black eyes, typically depicted wearing a jacket. His personality reflects a straightforward dedication to hot spring culture, often expressing frustration towards irrational misconceptions like "cursed hot water."

His background and core narrative—transitioning from a solitary hot spring hunter in Japan to a hot spring culture advocate in the fantasy world alongside Mayudama and other companions—remains consistent across the original light novel, manga adaptation, and anime adaptation.
