Description
Lizbeth Sargant is the first daughter of the Sargant family, a magical lineage that operates within the hidden magical society of Great Britain. From a young age, she proved to be an exceptionally gifted magic practitioner, surpassing all those around her in skill and knowledge. She pursued her own magical development with relentless dedication, setting no boundaries for her experimentation or ambition. Over time, she became the head of the Sargant family, an elderly woman with grey hair and blue eyes. Her personality is fierce, strict, and entirely self-serving. She views people, including her own family, as tools to further her aims. Her only son, Adam Sargant, was the focus of her family's hopes in the past, but it is her granddaughter Philomela Sargant who bears the brunt of her cruelty. Lizbeth orchestrated Philomela’s attendance at the College in obedience to the main family line’s command, but her treatment of Philomela is cold and abusive. She erased Philomela’s childhood memories of her loving parents, driven by a deep resentment toward Philomela’s mother. Over the years, she systematically destroyed Philomela’s self-esteem, seeing the girl only as a tool for advancing the Sargant family’s power and standing. In the second season of the story, Lizbeth emerges as the primary antagonist. Her motivations stem from a thirst for power and a desire to maintain control. She wields considerable magical ability and uses manipulation and fear to dominate those around her, particularly Philomela. Her actions set off a chain of conflict that challenges the protagonists and tests their resolve. Lizbeth’s development is minimal in terms of redemption; she remains a figure of unwavering cruelty and ambition. Her notable abilities include a high degree of magical proficiency, enabling her to cast powerful spells, alter memories, and set complex traps. She is also a skilled manipulator of situations and people, using her authority as family head to enforce her will. Her relationships outside the Sargant family are transactional; she follows the orders of Veronica Rickenbacker of the main line but does so for her own strategic benefit. Within the narrative, Lizbeth Sargant embodies themes of betrayal, manipulation, and the corrupting nature of unchecked power.
