Originally named Nigamushi, Sour Face is a martial artist and former disciple of Bang. He left the dojo after suffering severe injuries during Garou's rampage, an event that drastically altered his martial path. Sour Face subsequently founded his own dojo, creating the unique Sourface Style Kenpo. This style focuses intensely on upper-body techniques, particularly devastating choke holds capable of defeating opponents like Jakumen, but consciously omits leg moves due to Sour Face's admitted weakness there. He retains deep respect for Bang despite their separation.
Physically, Sour Face is marked by a perpetually strained facial expression reminiscent of tasting something sour and a cleft chin. His appearance changed from initially muscular to notably shorter in later depictions. Extreme nearsightedness necessitates thick glasses outside combat, contributing to his characteristic squint; this impairment fuels a nervous demeanor, especially in crowded environments like the Super Fight Tournament. He entered this tournament to recruit disciples and indirectly confront his lingering fear of Garou. He is 20 years old, the same age as Charanko.
Sour Face's personality blends loyalty, anxiety, and a persistent grudge. He holds Bang in high regard but deeply resents Garou for the dojo attack that forced his departure. He frequently denigrates Charanko for perceived laziness and poor etiquette, unaware during the tournament that "Charanko" is Saitama in disguise. Despite boasting about being Bang's second-strongest disciple after Garou, he is easily flustered. This led to a nervous alliance with "Charanko" during the tournament and praising defeated opponents like Jakumen to sidestep embarrassment. He shows genuine concern, warning "Charanko" about dangerous fighters like Bakuzan and Choze.
In the 22nd Super Fight Tournament, Sour Face reached the quarter-finals. He defeated Jakumen using his choke hold but was swiftly eliminated by Saitama (disguised as Charanko) via an uppercut, mirroring Bakuzan's defeat. His participation was partly motivated by a desire to symbolically prove his strength against Garou, which Saitama criticized as "pitiful" compared to Charanko's direct approach. When monsters led by Gouketsu attacked the tournament, Sour Face refused to become a monster, was captured, and later hospitalized.
Post-tournament, Sour Face recovered in the hospital alongside martial artists like Zakos and Lin Lin. He initially intended to join their response to the Monster Association crisis in Z-City but was persuaded to stay by Suiryu. Later, he rejected King's application to his dojo, fearing King's reputed power would harm it. Sour Face eventually returned to Bang's dojo. There, he teased Garou about cleaning duties and part-time work, acknowledging the dojo's financial struggles stemming from Garou's past actions, marking a partial reconciliation with his former training environment.
Sour Face possesses enhanced durability, surviving Saitama's uppercut with only minor injuries. He is a skilled martial artist, proficient in his Sourface Style Kenpo and presumably the Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist from his training under Bang. He considers himself Bang's second-strongest disciple after Garou, a claim implicitly supported by Garou specifically targeting him during the dojo rampage.
