Description
Michizou Tachihara emerges initially as an impulsive, arrogant member of the Port Mafia's Black Lizard unit under Ryūrō Hirotsu, alongside Gin Akutagawa. He favors brute force, wields dual guns, and displays violent temper and savage exhilaration in combat, showing little hesitation in murder and reacting aggressively to perceived slights. Despite this rebellious exterior, he adheres strictly to orders as a defining system and demonstrates rational thought when calm.

Deep familial trauma shapes his past. His older brother, viewed as "perfect" by their family, died during a war involving Yosano, though under circumstances orchestrated by Mori. Following this death, Tachihara faced severe familial rejection, with open expressions of regret that he hadn't died instead. This rejection led him into delinquency and criminal activities like safe-cracking, resulting in capture by the Hunting Dogs. They offered clemency in exchange for joining their ranks, exploiting his desperate need for purpose.

His Hunting Dog recruitment included physical enhancement surgery, albeit less extensive due to his undercover role. He possesses the ability *Midwinter Memento*, granting ferrokinesis – the power to manipulate metal objects remotely, including blades, guns, or mannequins. Yosano noted this ability surpassed his brother's version in strength, though the timeline of its development remains undefined.

As the fifth, secret Hunting Dog, Tachihara infiltrated the Port Mafia to gather intelligence and initially pursued revenge against Yosano, whom he blamed for his brother's death. He adopted a fabricated persona: a hot-headed mafioso. Genuine bonds formed gradually with Black Lizard members, particularly Hirotsu (whom he called "gramps") and Gin. He felt guilt after injuring them during a mission and respected their loyalty, notably when they supported Higuchi's defiance to save Akutagawa, contrasting sharply with the Hunting Dogs' rigid, distrustful dynamic.

His allegiance fractured during the Hunting Dogs arc. After the Armed Detective Agency's framing by the Decay of Angels, he privately questioned their guilt. Confiding in Hirotsu and Gin, their encouragement to trust his instincts solidified his loyalty shift. He later admitted his revenge motive was an excuse to escape his brother's shadow and forge his own identity. When Port Mafia leader Mori uncovered his spy status, Tachihara feared execution. Mori instead exploited the situation strategically. Ultimately, Tachihara rejected the Hunting Dogs' black-and-white morality, declaring himself "the Mafia's Michizō Tachihara" while acknowledging both organizations shaped him. His final act involved attacking Hunting Dogs leader Fukuchi under Mori's orders, accepting potential death as a mafioso.

Physically, Tachihara has rust-red dyed hair (naturally black), amber eyes, and wears a plaster on his nose bridge—a disguise element chosen by Tecchō. His standard attire features a green fur-collared jacket over a white V-neck shirt, dark pants, boots, and a wrist band. As a Hunting Dog, he wears their military uniform while retaining his brother's dog tag underneath.
