Description
Born Flann Oldman into wealth, Tilt's familial conflict fueled delinquency and theft. At seventeen, his theft of an X-Playing Card led to his parents' murder by Ban Klondike. The card resonated with his turmoil, triggering possession by the entity San Galgano. Klondike associate Zenon then falsified his memories, implanting the belief he had killed his own parents. Homeless, he was renamed "Tilt" and brought into the Klondike Family. San Galgano's influence gradually eroded his consciousness, though he clung to the goal of freeing himself to reunite with his younger brother, Finn Oldman, left behind.
Within Klondike, Tilt served as a young executive mediating front companies and transactions while managing the search for more X-Playing Cards under Ban's orders. He displayed an open-minded, philosophical approach toward internal power struggles, his high status marked by his position near the head of the family table. He directed subordinates like Bobby Ball and Burst to collect cards, personally wielding the King of Spades, "San Galgano." This card transformed him into the Black Knight, a separate personality seeking to devour other cards. The Black Knight could forcibly seize control of Tilt's body, causing severe physical and mental strain; Tilt visualized it as a distinct entity even when the card was dormant.
Tilt harbored exceptional loyalty toward Ban Klondike, driven by a desire to meet Ban's expectations for the family. Entrusted with critical missions—card thefts, negotiations with the Black Knight, managing police raids—he relied on confidant Burst. Possessing the Ace of Hearts to mimic others, Burst distrusted Klondike leadership, warning Tilt that Ban would discard him once useless. Deeply committed to freeing him from the card, Burst drugged Tilt and assumed his identity to destroy the Joker card, but failed to control San Galgano. Their bond extended beyond professional ties.
Tilt's defining motivation remained reuniting with Finn. He pressured Finn to abandon HIGH CARD, insisting blood relatives were his only true family. Yet, San Galgano's corruption twisted these feelings, escalating his instability and violence. During Prince Louis's coronation, Tilt, fully overtaken by the Black Knight, attempted to slay the Joker. Finn intervened, neutralizing him to prevent destruction. Tilt's body was never recovered, leaving his death unconfirmed. In his final moments, freed from San Galgano's control, he acknowledged Finn with a quiet "Happy Birthday" before disappearing.
