Description
Mr. Fujinami, Ryūnosuke's father, is the third-generation heir to the Hamajaya beachside café, serving traditional Japanese summer treats and Western items like Coca-Cola. His upbringing ingrained a deep fixation on traditional Japanese masculinity and the family legacy, fueling an obsession with securing a male heir. He formed a childhood pact with his friend Shiowatari for their children to marry, specifically intending for himself to have a son and Shiowatari a daughter.

He met his wife Masako at an amusement park where she portrayed a superhero and he a costumed monster. Their marriage produced one child, Ryūnosuke, a daughter. Insisting Ryūnosuke was the son he desired, he raised her as a boy. Masako departed under unclear circumstances during Ryūnosuke's childhood; he alternately claimed she died or abandoned them, though his chronic lying and unstable mind obscure the truth. To cope, he photographed himself and infant Ryūnosuke with numerous women, dulling his memories of Masako until he could no longer recognize her in pictures.

After Masako left, he subjected Ryūnosuke to relentless physical and psychological abuse to enforce his delusion of her maleness. He denied her gender identity, refused to share food, administered regular beatings, and withheld allowances to block purchases of feminine items. He stitched masculine symbols onto her clothes and listed her as male on official documents. He repeatedly promised Ryūnosuke she could wear women's clothing if she defeated him in combat but consistently cheated—hiding during confrontations, drugging her miso soup, or using alien technology to forcibly transform her into a male.

Despite rigidly enforcing masculinity on Ryūnosuke, he frequently cross-dressed as an old-fashioned housewife, claiming it provided maternal presence or added feminine balance to their home—a hypocrisy deepening Ryūnosuke's resentment. His behavior extended beyond gender enforcement; he habitually lied for personal gain or torment, such as falsely denying holidays like Christmas to avoid gifts, declaring chocolate was poisonous "choke-a-lots" made from cow's blood while secretly eating it himself, and cruelly joking he was originally a woman.

The Hamajaya café was destroyed during a father-daughter fight witnessed by Ataru Moroboshi, Lum, Shinobu Miyake, and Shūtarō Mendō. Unable to afford rebuilding, he accepted a job managing Tomobiki High School's store, relocating there with Ryūnosuke. He schemed to reopen the café while perpetuating his abusive dynamic. Later, reconnecting with Shiowatari's spirit, he learned of Shiowatari's "daughter" Nagisa (a boy raised as a girl). Intent on fulfilling their pact, he arranged for Nagisa to live with them and pressured Ryūnosuke into marriage.

In one incident, he encountered an underwater rock creature he believed was Masako, underscoring his delusional state. His appearance features an angular face with perpetually squinting eyes, unkempt spiky black hair, and a darker complexion than Ryūnosuke. He typically wears a white shirt, pants, a brown haramaki, and either geta or no footwear. His personality is defined by unhinged delusions, immorality, apathy, and violent parenting, showing no significant redemption or development.
