TV-Series
Description
Raust, a Labyrinth Orphan, gained admission to a Healer Training Institute upon showing magic potential, only to be expelled for low aptitude. This early rejection drove him to independently master hand-to-hand combat and monster lore within the Guild Library. His initial adventuring experiences involved exploitation, notably an incident where a party used him as decoy bait, resulting in their deaths. He later joined the Blades of Lightning, but was unjustly banished after being scapegoated for their failure during a hydra quest. The leader, Margulus, spread rumors branding Raust incompetent, earning him widespread scorn.
A pivotal moment came when Raust intervened to save a young girl from an orc attack, despite his fear. This act ignited years of intense training to become stronger. Years later, he reunited with the girl, now introduced as Narsena, failing to recognize her due to her matured appearance and changed hair color. Narsena later sought him out to form a new adventuring party, offering him a fresh start.
Physically lean and tall with a sharp chin, messy black hair, and sharp dark grey eyes, Raust wears an elaborate white and gold-trimmed outfit reminiscent of priestly or ceremonial garb. This includes a gold-accented white cloak with buckled clasps, a brown utility belt, and brown boots with gold trims. He carries a dagger or short sword on his belt.
Fundamentally kind, Raust suffers severe self-doubt and an inferiority complex stemming from prolonged mistreatment and gaslighting, including his mentor Ralma frequently labeling him "talentless." His expulsion from the Blades of Lightning and subsequent ridicule deepened these insecurities. His partnership with Narsena, who consistently values and supports him, fosters gradual confidence development, though residual self-esteem issues linger. He also develops romantic feelings for Narsena, planning to confess after events involving a phoenix.
Key relationships include Narsena, his primary source of emotional strength and romantic interest; Ralma, his strict magic instructor; and his former Blades of Lightning party members, particularly the antagonistic Margulus, representing betrayal.
Raust's abilities extend beyond basic healing magic. Known skills include "Heal (Layering)", "Big Fireball", "Detect Magic", and "101% Body Strengthening". He demonstrates surprising combat proficiency, especially with daggers, enabling him to defeat threats like orcs. Notably, he exhibits an "Unknown Transformation" into an "Oni form", granting brief surges of immense power. The origin and full nature of this form remain unexplained, with speculation about potential demonic or oni heritage. It represents a latent, uncontrolled power source surfacing in critical moments.
