Description
Bunshichi Tanba rose to notoriety as a dojo-crasher, challenging martial arts schools to prove his strength, a pursuit fueled by deep-seated self-doubt. His path shifted dramatically upon encountering the underground FAW organization and suffering a decisive, humiliating defeat against Toshio Kajiwara. This loss exposed his perceived limitations and plunged him into a three-year disappearance, dedicated to relentless, intensive training to conquer his weaknesses and refine his combat abilities.

Returning to the underground circuit with significantly enhanced prowess, Tanba attracted the attention of two legendary martial figures: Makoto "Great" Tatsumi, the formidable FAW owner known for his ring dominance, and Shozan Matsuo, the Hokushin School founder revered as "the Demon of Karate" for his extraordinary speed and power. Both sought to recruit Tanba, drawing him into a hierarchy of elite fighters where he faced escalating challenges against allies and adversaries, testing his physical and mental limits.

Tanba later confronted Jūzō Fujimaki, a fugitive martial artist who had adopted Tanba's name to defeat Hokushin practitioners and lure out the real Tanba. Their battle ended inconclusively due to outside interruption. Subsequently, after witnessing Hokushin student Jyohei Tsutsumi overpower yakuza assailants, Tanba challenged him. Their unrestricted match, arranged by Tatsumi and endorsed by Matsuo, ended with Tanba victorious by knockout, during which he recalled memories of his first violent act. Tanba later visited the hospitalized Tsutsumi, signaling newfound mutual respect.

Following the Hokushinkai tournament, Tanba continued seeking unsanctioned street fights against various martial arts masters, including a confrontation with Teruo Kitaoka, a practitioner of Shisei-kan karate known for extreme body conditioning granting near-superhuman durability, reflecting his ongoing pursuit of challenges beyond organized competitions.

Tanba's background includes a traumatic incident from his youth where his parents were killed by a home invader, an event indirectly connecting to his motivations, fighting psyche, complex relationship with violence, and relentless drive to test himself against formidable opponents.
