Description
Haruto Atori is a 26-year-old male with silver hair and blue eyes, standing 183 cm tall. Born on February 14th, he is an Aquarius. Before his death, he worked as a top concierge at Tokyo's Hamilton Hotel, where his professionalism and character deeply impressed guests Mr. and Mrs. Osoto. This admiration inadvertently led to their son, Masaki Osoto, stalking Atori, consumed by jealousy over his parents' preference. Osoto ended Atori's life by pushing him in front of a train on a station platform.

Earlier, Atori pursued a childhood dream of becoming a professional saxophone player, studying abroad in New Orleans. He eventually abandoned this ambition, believing he could never achieve musical genius, and tried to distance himself from the instrument despite a lingering attachment. His romantic relationships were consistently short-lived, often ending because partners found him boring due to his intense focus on music and news; the longest lasted three months, the shortest ended after three hours. This history contributed to his aversion to being perceived as a playboy, a misconception sometimes prompted by his appearance. [citation:]

Arriving at the Tasokare Hotel—a liminal space for souls between life and death—Atori could not recall the circumstances of his death or even if he had died. Feeling bored and aimless, he joined the hotel staff. As a senior staff member, he wore a uniform of a white blouse, black vest with gold accents, black trousers, gloves, and an armband. He later trained the protagonist, Neko Tsukahara, when she became a staff member. His duties often involved serving guests in the dining room or assisting with menial tasks.

Atori consistently demonstrated kindness and protectiveness, particularly towards Neko. When Osoto arrived as a guest and held Ruri hostage, Atori collaborated with Neko to disarm him. He intervened again when Osoto attacked Neko outside the hotel, picking up a fallen gun and accidentally killing Osoto. This act condemned Atori to Hell according to hotel rules, and he accepted his fate without resentment toward Neko. As the Gate of Hell consumed him, he urged her to live a long life.

In the True Ending timeline, Neko traveled back in time to prevent Atori's death. At the train station, he noticed a Gate of Hell opening and pulled Neko to safety as she emerged. Though baffled by her knowledge of his name, he did not recognize her. One year later, working as a concierge at the Hamilton Hotel, he was assigned to mentor Neko during a professional exchange program. While maintaining professionalism, he felt an unexplained familiarity with her. In a subsequent special story, he accepted her invitation to a café to meet an online friend interested in hotel work.

Atori's personality blends refinement, diligence, and underlying vulnerability. He is courteous and serious in his duties but becomes uncharacteristically confrontational when provoked, such as when Neko pressured him to play saxophone—a request he initially refused vehemently before reconsidering and performing. His emotional openness varied: he behaved more naturally and relaxed within the hotel but adopted a distant, professional demeanor in the real world.
