Description
Kanshi Kazamatsuri, known as Kan, is a tengu from a lineage of supernatural beings. He hails from mountainous regions, where he trained under his father, Kakuraibo Ashizukayama, an heir of the five great tengu families. During this time, he befriended Nico Wakatsuki while she underwent magical training. After her departure, he amassed significant debts, leading Nico's mother, Ibuki, to assume his financial obligations on the condition he travel to protect Nico as her familiar. This arrangement brought him to the human world, joining Nico and her ogre familiar, Morihito Otogi, in their shared residence.

Physically, Kan has a slim yet muscular build. He sports distinctive spiky yellow hair with shaved sideburns. His yellow eyes feature red-orange markings beneath them, consistent with his tengu heritage. His typical attire includes a long-sleeved shirt, shorts, and traditional geta sandals.

Kan's personality blends exceptional social adeptness with carefree tendencies. He rapidly forms connections with new acquaintances, capable of establishing multiple relationships within a single day. Despite inherent laziness and chronic financial mismanagement—requiring frequent part-time jobs to cover expenses—he demonstrates reliability during critical situations. He exhibits a self-preservation instinct but maintains deep loyalty to friends, notably supporting Nico's romantic feelings for Morihito despite initial friction. His humor and active nature manifest through gaming, content creation, and group socialization.

His interpersonal dynamics show significant development. His initial encounter with Morihito involved hostility rooted in historical tengu-ogre rivalries, culminating in physical confrontations. Cooperation during Nico's kidnapping by animated clothing fostered mutual respect, transforming their relationship into a competitive yet trusting partnership. With Nico, interactions reflect platonic affection and protective instincts, often adopting a brotherly role in her romantic pursuits. Other connections include comedic collaborations with Keigo Magami, antagonistic exchanges with Wolf, and utilitarian reliance on Miharu Kiryu's abilities despite causing her irritation.

Kan's tengu abilities center on wind manipulation, amplified by his Shakujo staff. This ceremonial implement extends, retracts, and sprouts nine feathers to form a fan when infused with spiritual energy. His signature techniques include "Bird-Blackened Sky," summoning controllable crow flocks for reconnaissance or assistance, and "Tengu Cloak," granting seven fleeting seconds of invisibility.

Key narrative moments include his early role warning Morihito about supernatural threats within Nico's school, collaborative rescues during her magical mishaps, and financial escapades like his amusement park superhero job, where impulsive spell use complicated his employment. His character arc emphasizes growing integration into the protector role alongside Morihito, balancing comedic irresponsibility with dependable action during crises.
