Description
Tsunehiro Sasaki is a university student burdened by substantial debt from failed investments and pachinko gambling. A medical diagnosis confirms an inoperable brain tumor, leaving him with a prognosis of roughly two years to live, a revelation that deepens his profound depression and reinforces his belief that he has failed to achieve the higher status he felt destined for.
Pursued by loan sharks, he is forced into a desperate chase that ends when he falls into the sea. He is rescued by Hana Ayukawa and Takaaki Tsutsujimori, who are fishing nearby. This encounter introduces him to fishing, an activity he initially dislikes and fails to understand.
Despite his reluctance, the connection he forms with Hana and Takaaki leads him to a part-time job at the "Every Mart" convenience store where they work. Through his interactions with them and their friends, he gradually begins to engage with fishing, confronting the challenges of its complex terminology and the unpleasant smell of live bait.
The physical jolt of a fish biting his line provides a tangible connection to life he had never felt. This new hobby, alongside his developing friendships and employment, offers him a renewed sense of purpose, allowing him to navigate a life previously defined by constant downfall and to find a place to belong.
