Description
Kohane Azusawa begins her high school journey as an intensely shy and self-doubting student. A pivotal moment occurs when she discovers a live performance at WEEKEND GARAGE on Vivid Street, captivated by Shiraishi An's singing. This sparks her fascination with street music, distinct from her school lessons. An's subsequent invitation to sing together leads to the formation of their duo, Vivids. After a rivalry and eventual collaboration with the duo BAD DOGS (Akito Shinonome and Toya Aoyagi), the four unite as Vivid BAD SQUAD, dedicating themselves to surpassing the legendary RAD WEEKEND event.

Her family includes a father working as a photographer. During kindergarten, they adopted a white snake named Count Pearl, whom Kohane considers family, feeling a sisterly bond and claiming to understand its feelings. Academically, she was in class 1-A during her first year alongside Shiho Hinomori and Minori Hanasato. In her second year, she moved to class 2-A with Ichika Hoshino and Honami Mochizuki. She initially joined the animal care committee with Minori but switched to the beautification committee in her second year. Minori, her first high school friend who helped her find her seat during the entrance ceremony, inspired Kohane to pursue her own dreams by witnessing Minori's dedication to becoming an idol.

Physically, Kohane has light brown eyes and sandy blonde hair. Pre-Vivid BAD SQUAD, she wore her hair in two low waist-length twin-tails and used round glasses. After joining, she cut it shoulder-length, styling it in twin-tails up behind her ears, and switched to contact lenses. Her voice is light and sweet. Her casual second-year outfit consists of a cream long-sleeved shirt with "LUSTER" printed on the sleeves under a light orange short-sleeved sweater with light yellow trim, a short denim skirt with fringe, a black belt with "LUSTER" printed on it, dark gray thigh-high stockings with pale yellow lines, a backwards dark gray cap with a small pink star, and a gold heart pendant necklace. Her Vivid BAD SQUAD unit outfit features a grey shirt printed with "Smile" layered under a white collared shirt and an oversized pink, red, and white baseball jacket, paired with a short denim skirt and a long white belt printed with "ANGEL". Accessories include a backwards black and white cap, a loose black choker with a small heart pendant, high-cut cream sneakers, and thigh-high grey socks with white stripes. A second unit outfit comprises a gray button-up under a white sweater with a dark gray "CORDIAL" stripe on the chest and a pink "GENIALITY" stripe down the left sleeve, a short dark denim suspender skirt with a front zipper and hot pink belt, gray athletic socks with a white stripe, pink running shoes, and a backwards white cap with "heart" printed on the right.

Personality-wise, Kohane is kindhearted but began quiet and bashful, disliking public attention. Her involvement with Vivid BAD SQUAD gradually fosters openness and bravery, building confidence in singing and communication, though she still feels occasional nervousness around former rivals Akito or Toya. Diligent, she works hard to keep pace with more experienced members. During the event story "Awakening Beat," her confidence reaches new levels, and her singing becomes notably more powerful. Despite her shyness, she enjoys extreme activities like roller coasters and bungee jumping. Her surname Azusawa combines "azuki" (red bean) and "sawa" (swamp); her given name Kohane, written in hiragana in-game, is approximated as 心羽 meaning "heart feathers."

Her relationships include a close bond with An, viewing her as a vital partner who instilled performance confidence. An frequently brags about her, causing flustered reactions, yet An also harbors feelings of inferiority and fears Kohane might leave her behind due to rapid improvement. Kohane respects Akito's skill and values his teachings about street music, though his teasing still unnerves her. She confides insecurities, like fear of failing again, in Toya, valuing his advice and noting his increasing expressiveness. Friends include Ichika, Saki, and Honami, with a particularly close friendship developing with Shiho, initially intimidating but later bonded over music. Minori remains her best friend. She interacts warmly with Haruka Kiritani, who assists with makeup and posing during a photo contest. Friendly acquaintances include Airi Momoi, whom she tackles out of jealousy during a playful scheme, and Emu Otori, whose unique speech patterns she understands.

In the movie "COLORFUL STAGE! The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing," Kohane participates with Vivid BAD SQUAD in a collective effort to aid a despondent Hatsune Miku. The group creates and performs the song "Fire Dance" to reignite hope in individuals whose despair threatens Miku's existence, showcasing Kohane's commitment to music as a force for emotional connection and support.
