Shigatera serves as a subordinate to guildmaster Pico within the Planet game's Pirates guild. He appears as an adult male avatar with a bald head, wearing a bandana and distinctive facial markings. His driving goal is capturing the legendary Black Bird of Happiness to claim its substantial monetary reward, motivated by real-life financial struggles as a struggling artist seeking escape. Resentment festers towards Pico due to her open membership policy, which he deems hypocritical, and her obsessive focus on player Ichi (Taichiro Arima).

During a critical confrontation, Shigatera openly denounces Pico before the Pirates guild, declaring hatred for her leadership. Backed by Granada Company leader Leon (Kikusaka Seishiro), he executes a takeover, forcibly changing the guild's status to dissolve the Pirates and seize control. This betrayal dismantles the guild and advances Leon/Granada's objectives. Shigatera's story concludes with his untimely demise shortly after the betrayal, without further acknowledgment from other characters.
