Description
Kiminobu Kogure serves as the vice-captain of the Shohoku basketball team and is a third-year student at Shohoku High School. He wears glasses, which earn him the nicknames "Megane-kun" and "Four Eyes" from Hanamichi Sakuragi. Kogure has medium-length dark brown hair, stands 178 centimeters tall, and weighs around 63 kilograms. His jersey number is 5, and he plays primarily as a small forward or occasionally as a shooting guard.

He began playing basketball at Kitamura Middle School to build his stamina, where he first met Takenori Akagi and grew to love the game through their shared experiences. He also knew Tomokazu Godai from that time. Throughout high school, Kogure and Akagi remained the only two players who stayed on the team for all three years, as others, including Hisashi Mitsui, left due to Akagi's rigorous training.

Kogure possesses a gentle, empathetic, and friendly nature, offering a calming and supportive presence that balances Akagi's strictness. He acts as a perceptive mediator, striving to maintain team harmony. Despite his mild demeanor, he shows strong willpower and honesty, as demonstrated when he confronted Mitsui during the latter's attempt to disrupt the team, enduring physical insults without retaliation.

Academically diligent, Kogure tutors the team's delinquent players when their grades jeopardize eligibility for the Interhigh Nationals. He commits deeply to the team's success, often staying late to assist with practice and encouraging younger players like Sakuragi.

On the court, Kogure is a reliable and experienced player, typically serving as the sixth man and first substitute when starters are tired or injured. A skilled three-point shooter and capable perimeter defender, his strategic understanding and consistent performance prove valuable in critical moments. He made a crucial three-pointer against Ryonan that helped secure victory and participated significantly in matches against Shoyo, Kainan, and Sannoh, often stabilizing the team.

Kogure shares a close friendship with Akagi, having supported his dream of reaching the national championship since middle school. He also had a strong bond with Mitsui during their first year, which fractured after Mitsui's departure but later restored upon his return. Kogure maintains an amiable relationship with Sakuragi, offering guidance and praise without condescension.

His development shows growing assertiveness and confidence, moving from seeing himself as a supporter to making key contributions, such as his clutch three-pointer against Ryonan. His dedication is fueled by experiences with Akagi and Mitsui, reinforcing his belief in teamwork.

After the Interhigh Tournament, Kogure retires to focus on academic responsibilities as a third-year student. He remains emotionally invested in the team's future, evident when Sakuragi encourages him to postpone retirement, though he ultimately steps down to prepare for college.
