Description
Born in 1599 to Honerva, Imperatore Tai-Bazaal ruled the Galra Empire during its campaign to conquer the Great Dark Nebula. Consuming flowers from Planet Amazon prolonged his lifespan, enabling his extended tyranny. He established himself as emperor by the early 17th century, overseeing the subjugation of multiple planets, including Altea in 1984. During Altea's conquest, he ordered the execution of King Raimon and his family for refusing to surrender; only Princess Fala escaped.
Tai-Bazaal fathered Prince Sincline through the rape of an Altean woman held captive specifically for that purpose. This act established a fraught dynamic with his son, whom he later manipulated as a military asset. In 1999, following Earth's thermonuclear war, he dispatched forces to capture survivors as slaves, including five students from the Fuji Space School. When these slaves escaped to Altea and reactivated the GoLion robot, Tai-Bazaal ordered General Sadak to pursue them, initiating repeated campaigns to destroy GoLion.
His leadership was characterized by ruthlessness and the scapegoating of subordinates. After Sadak's failures against GoLion, Tai-Bazaal sentenced him to death; Sincline intervened to repurpose Sadak into a Deathblack Beastman. Tai-Bazaal tested an interstellar ion cannon on Planet Mura, personally overseeing its deployment, but lost it due to GoLion's interference. He later orchestrated political marriages for Sincline, such as a proposed union with Princess Sahlia of Galleria, to consolidate power; Sincline's refusal fueled their rivalry.
As military losses mounted, Tai-Bazaal grew increasingly volatile. He imprisoned Sincline under Galran law for repeated failures, exacerbating their conflict. After failing to destroy the recaptured ion cannon, he returned to Galra, where Sincline and rebel soldiers arrested him. Deposed and forced to pilot a mechanized Beastman crafted in his image, he battled GoLion one final time. GoLion's enhanced sword weakened the Beastman during this confrontation, leading to its destruction with Tai-Bazaal inside and resulting in his death.
