Hody Jones, a great white shark fish-man, rose from Neptune Army soldier to captain of the New Fish-Man Pirates. He became the central antagonist on Fish-Man Island, fueled by a fierce devotion to the deceased pirate Arlong's belief in fish-man supremacy. However, Hody diverged significantly from his idol: lacking Arlong's crew loyalty and restraint, he callously used subordinates as shields and attacked fish-men who favored humans. His brutality surpassed Arlong's, viewing human captives as disposable tools and initiating lethal plots against them unprovoked. His hatred for humanity stemmed purely from absorbed generational resentment, not personal wrongs. When challenged, Hody declared humans had done "nothing" to him personally, framing his crusade as a divine mission to "judge humanity." This inherited racism drove him to exploit Fish-Man Island's societal divisions. As a teenager, he infiltrated the Neptune Army to steal the Tamatebako chest and its Energy Steroids—drugs granting temporary physical boosts at the cost of lifespan. During this time, he assassinated Queen Otohime, a peace advocate, framing a human to sabotage human-fish-man relations. He later manipulated this mistrust to recruit followers and launch a coup against the royal family. Physically, Hody had grey skin, sharp teeth, and tattoos including the Arlong Pirates' Jolly Roger, initially wearing a pink newsboy cap and red-spotted shirt. Overdosing on Energy Steroids during his uprising caused drastic changes: bulging muscles, lightened hair, and prominent veins. Prolonged use led to severe aging, leaving him bald, frail, hunched, and dependent on a cane—a direct consequence of relying on artificial power. As a fish-man, Hody possessed natural strength ten times a human's and mastered Fishman Karate, employing water-based attacks. Energy Steroids further amplified his speed, endurance, and combat prowess, enabling challenges like fighting Monkey D. Luffy. These enhancements proved fleeting; post-defeat, steroid side-effects caused total physical collapse. His tactical skill showed in long-term schemes, including an alliance with Vander Decken IX (treated as an equal partner) and the strategic deployment of the ancient ship Noah to threaten Fish-Man Island. His downfall came in battle against the Straw Hat Pirates, resulting in decisive defeat. Captured and ravaged by accelerated steroid aging, he was left permanently weakened. Imprisoned in a frail state, he embodied the self-destructive end of his ideology.
