Description
Beniamino Cassano is a D-Rank Regular and a Scout, famously known by the epithet Devil of the Left Arm. He entered the Tower as a living ignition weapon, a being with a demonic entity implanted within the body, and became a central figure during the Workshop Battle arc.

Cassano and Kang Horyang share a profound and tragic past. As abandoned children in the Middle Area of the Tower, they were among tens of thousands of children sold to the Workshop, a clandestine organization, for human experimentation. They were the sole survivors of these brutal trials. At the age of twelve, a parasitic devil creature was split in two and forcibly implanted into them, transforming them into the first successful living ignition weapons. Cassano received the red half of the devil on his left side, while Horyang received the blue half on his right. Raised and trained by a researcher named Sophia Amae, who gave them their names, the two boys formed an unbreakable childhood bond, with Cassano acting as the more confident and optimistic older brother figure to Horyang. Their separation came when Horyang was taken away to become a Regular, leaving Cassano behind.

In terms of personality, the confident and optimistic child has since matured into a far more quiet and sullen individual. He remains self-assured and calculating, possessing a deep-seated resentment towards the Tower for exploiting the powerless. This resentment fuels his primary motivation: to acquire enough power to change the Tower from within, creating a place where abandoned children are no longer used as tools. He is willing to manipulate allies and enemies alike to achieve his goals, displaying a ruthless pragmatism that often puts him at odds with his more sentimental counterpart, Horyang.

Cassano plays the role of a major antagonist and later a wildcard during the Workshop Battle. Initially, he lures Horyang to the Hand of Arlen, appearing to work for FUG, a criminal organization. After a fierce battle, he brutally stabs Horyang and absorbs his devil half, becoming a complete ignition weapon with vastly increased power. It is later revealed that this entire scheme was largely orchestrated by Cassano himself. He manipulated various factions, including FUG and the Slayer candidate Viole, freed the unstable ignition weapon Beta, and made a deal with the High Ranker Madoraco to secure the sentient ignition weapon Emile. Ultimately, Cassano cuts his ties with FUG and delivers Emile to Rachel, joining her team as he sees her as a means to further his ambition to reshape the Tower.

Cassano's key relationships are defined by his traumatic past. His connection to Kang Horyang is the most significant, representing his only family and the source of his power. While he betrays and steals Horyang's devil, he ultimately refuses to kill him, leaving open the possibility of reconciliation. His mentor, Sophia Amae, is a figure of deep emotional conflict; his actions during the Workshop Battle are partly driven by a sense of betrayal upon discovering the Workshop was still creating weapons like himself. His alliance with Rachel is purely transactional, based on a shared goal of upending the Tower's established order.

Throughout the story, Cassano undergoes significant development, transitioning from a vengeful and secretive schemer to a more independent actor. After absorbing his brother's power, he struggles to control it, acknowledging his own instability. His arc suggests a shift from pure pragmatism, as he expresses a desire to eventually return to Horyang and restore what he took, indicating that his bond with his brother may ultimately outweigh his quest for power.

Cassano possesses formidable abilities as a living ignition weapon. His primary power comes from the red devil in his left arm, which grants him enhanced strength, speed, and durability. Unlike Horyang who relies on brute force, Cassano emphasizes speed and uses his arm to fire short-range shinsu bursts for propulsion or attack. He is highly resilient, capable of surviving powerful energy attacks and sword strikes. When he ignites his devil, his left arm's power increases dramatically, allowing him to shatter metal and deliver devastating blows. After stealing Horyang's blue devil half, he becomes a complete ignition weapon, able to freely ignite either arm. In this state, he can fire incredibly powerful shinsu blasts from his right arm, with Beta theorizing that this new form might make him even stronger than Viole, though he still requires time to master this unstable and immense power.
