Description
Born Raito Sonozaki into an aristocratic family linked to Gaia Memory development, his fate shifted at age five after falling into the True Gaia Memory. This erased his past and reshaped him into a data-based avatar of Earth’s knowledge. Rescued during Begins Night by detective Sokichi Narumi, he adopted the name Philip and partnered with Sokichi’s apprentice, Shotaro Hidari. Using the Doubledriver belt, their merged consciousness forms Kamen Rider Double, with Philip as the right half, leveraging the Gaia Library—a metaphysical realm housing Earth’s recorded data—to analyze threats.
Raised in isolation, Philip initially displayed a detached, logic-driven demeanor. Bonds with Shotaro and Akiko Narumi fostered empathy, tested by familial revelations: his father, Ryubei Sonozaki, led the Museum organization enabling Dopant crimes, while his sister Wakana became central to ethical dilemmas. Confrontations exposed his role as the True Gaia Memory’s avatar, granting resistance to specific Dopant abilities but destabilizing his body during prolonged transformations.
During the Utopia Dopant crisis, Philip’s form disintegrated after deploying the Xtreme Memory, merging his consciousness with Earth’s data stream. Wakana later sacrificed herself to reverse the Gaia Impact, resurrecting him a year later. Post-revival, he retained Gaia Library access and rejoined Shotaro in safeguarding Fuuto City, now demonstrating heightened emotional maturity and renewed dedication to justice.
Expanded media appearances include temporal disruptions in *Kamen Rider Heisei Generations Forever* and *Saber + Zenkaiger: Superhero Senki*, where his existence briefly vanished before restoration. Video games like *Kamen Rider Travelers Record* showcased his role as Double’s strategic intellect. The *Fuuto PI* spin-off explores his post-resurrection endeavors, teaming with Tokime—an amnesiac tied to emerging threats—and balancing analytical prowess with interpersonal bonds.
Abilities encompass near-omniscient data retrieval via the Gaia Library, data conversion through the Xtreme Memory for tactical combat, and immunity to select memory-altering effects. Historical weaknesses included physical vulnerability, emotional triggers tied to his lineage, and reliance on Shotaro’s presence for stable transformations. Post-revival enhancements granted increased stamina and stability, enabling prolonged activations of advanced forms like FangMetal and FangTrigger.
