Description
Kyosuke Mamo emerges as a recurring antagonist in the Lupin III franchise, defined by his relentless pursuit of vengeance against the Lupin bloodline using time travel technology. His background and motivations shift across different media.

In the original manga, born February 30, 2854, Kyosuke Mamo worked as a science fiction writer. His descent into insanity occurred during fourth-dimensional research, driving him to build a time machine. This vendetta ignited when Lupin XIII murdered his father in 2883, compelling Mamo to target every generation of the Lupin family. His attempt to erase Lupin III by traveling to feudal Japan to kill ancestor Jirokichi backfired; Lupin and allies tricked and killed him there.

The anime adaptation presents distinct origins: born November 18, 1932, Mamo was a Hugo Award-winning scientist specializing in fourth-dimensional research. Institutionalized in 1966 after predicting Earth's destruction, he constructed a time machine resembling Noah's Ark. Motivated by a prophecy that Lupin XIII would annihilate the Mamo clan in 2874, he stalks Lupin, demonstrating power by displacing figures like a castle architect and Fujiko Mine into the fourth dimension. His plan to retroactively eliminate Lupin by altering ancestry ends with Lupin outmaneuvering him, stranding him in feudal Japan.

The OVA *Elusiveness of the Fog* adds another motive: Lupin XXXIII stole Kyosuke Mamo's girlfriend, intensifying his drive for time-manipulated revenge. Flashbacks reveal his early aptitude for electronics. This scheme also concludes with him permanently trapped in feudal Japan.

In *Is Lupin Still Burning?*, Kyosuke Mamo partners with Mister X to dismantle Lupin's life. Utilizing his time machine, he transports Lupin through pivotal past events, altering outcomes to prevent alliances with Jigen, Goemon, and Fujiko. This creates a distorted timeline: Jigen reduced to homelessness after a failed duel, Goemon becoming an assassin allied with Fujiko, and Zenigata hunting Goemon instead of Lupin. The plan unravels as Lupin's allies, despite lacking memories, instinctively aid him due to residual bonds. Lupin turns the time machine against Mamo and Mister X, exiling them to the Jurassic period to face predatory dinosaurs.

Across all iterations, Kyosuke Mamo consistently wields time travel for revenge. He is ultimately defeated by Lupin's cunning and the unbreakable, often subconscious, loyalty of his companions. His recurring fate involves being stranded in a distant era.
