Description
Pushupushu is the main character of the film Synapusu The Movie: Pusu Hoppe Nyū World. He is a round, soft-bodied creature who lives a quiet, carefree life on Pushupushu Star, his home planet, where he enjoys dango, a type of rice dumpling. His body is flexible and highly expressive, and he habitually communicates his feelings by puffing up and shrinking down, using his whole form to show his emotions.
His personality is easygoing and gentle. He is described as always kese ra sera, meaning he takes things as they come and does not compare himself to others or become flustered or angry. When unpleasant things happen, he lets them drift past him lightly, and he is warm, kind, and very soft in nature. This gentle temperament shapes how he responds to trouble throughout the story.
The story begins when a small fairy named Nyū appears suddenly, having been born from a towel while Pushupushu is wiping his face. Startled by the unexpected arrival, Pushupushu accidentally sends one of his cheeks flying off into the far reaches of space. His main motivation in the film is to recover this lost cheek. Though he is initially troubled by the loss, Nyū encourages him, and he gains the resolve to board a rocket and travel across the universe in search of it.
During his journey, Pushupushu visits a series of distinctive worlds, including Gasshan Star, Sora no Lion Star, and Yororeihi Star, and he meets many familiar friends along the way. His closest relationship is with Nyū, who becomes his companion and travel partner, comforting him when he is upset, supporting him on the quest, and helping him keep going. As the adventure unfolds, Pushupushu grows from a startled creature caught in an unexpected accident into a determined traveler, and with the help of the friends he meets, he is ultimately able to find and recover his missing cheek.
