Description
Anna arrives excitedly at her snow-covered grandparents' countryside cabin in winter, rushing to greet them outside. Inside, fascination takes hold as she discovers a Slugma inhabiting the chimney system, captivated by its role heating the home through pipes and fireplace. Driven by curiosity, she actively searches for the elusive Slugma throughout the cabin, often with a resident Darumaka. She traces chimney pipes, explores rooms including a temporarily dark and empty bedroom, and briefly pauses for a snack on the stairs – leaving crumbs that annoy a cleaning Minccino. Her persistent hunt leads her to the backyard where her grandfather chops wood with a Haxorus. Repeatedly unsuccessful, she voices doubt to her grandfather, concerned Slugma dislikes her. He reassures her that Slugma communicates happiness through fireplace smoke puffs.

Anna's interactions with Slugma deepen during daily routines. She watches her grandmother clean rocks forming on Slugma before it assists with oven-cooked dinner, eating Berries as it works. Anna enjoys the resulting stew and compliments the food. This compliment visibly pleases Slugma, prompting happy smoke puffs that confirm her grandfather's words and ease her worry. Later, she enjoys a bath heated by Slugma. Come evening, she bonds comfortably with Slugma, Darumaka, and Minccino, falling asleep alongside them in the previously dark bedroom, now illuminated and warmed by Slugma.

The next morning, she waits by the fireplace for Slugma before her mother arrives. Departing, she tells her mother she had fun and made many new friends, specifically calling goodbye to Slugma. Slugma responds with two farewell smoke puffs from the chimney, prompting Anna's happy smile as she leaves.
