Her persistent hunt leads her to the backyard where her grandfather chops wood with a Haxorus. Repeatedly unsuccessful, she voices doubt to her grandfather, concerned Slugma dislikes her. He reassures her that Slugma communicates happiness through fireplace smoke puffs.

Anna's interactions with Slugma deepen during daily routines. She watches her grandmother clean rocks forming on Slugma before it assists with oven-cooked dinner, eating Berries as it works.
