Description
Rin is a university student defined by pronounced shyness and anxiety, traits molding her initial reactions to unsettling events. Her background holds repressed childhood trauma linked to World War II medical experiments, including suppressed memories of her mother's suicide. These buried experiences resurface through fragmented flashbacks and visions as events unfold.

After moving into a dilapidated apartment complex, Rin encounters paranormal phenomena involving spiritual insects tied to curses and human consciousness. She witnesses insects emerging from human bodies, an ability folklore marks as an omen of death. These sightings drive her investigation into local mythology, leading to research at a library where she meets Tokiyo, a folklore scholar providing crucial context.

Rin forms alliances with others, including middle schooler Nasuha—who radiates her own mysterious aura—and Saion, an expert in countering curses. These connections gradually fortify her resolve, shifting her from passive witness to active participant confronting the building's enigmas. Her psychological state wavers under supernatural strain, manifesting dissociation, panic attacks, and fainting spells during intense episodes.

Central to her development is uncovering suppressed personal history, particularly revelations about her mother's connection to wartime experiments involving cervical diseases and insect-based biological manipulation. This culminates in realizing the apartment complex sits atop a repurposed industrial site tied to these experiments, where unresolved spiritual remnants fuel curses and murders. Rin's journey involves reconciling this past while navigating threats from a hooded serial killer, ethereal entities, and a secret society dedicated to containing curses through meditative practices.

Her arc concludes with integrating fragmented memories, accepting her traumatic origins, and directly confronting the source of the supernatural infestations. Rin appears briefly in a later related work, maintaining setting continuity without further developmental elaboration.
