TV-Series
Description
Rei Furuya, operating under three identities simultaneously, is an investigator for the National Police Agency Security Bureau's Planning Division. He infiltrates the Black Organization as Bourbon, specializing in intelligence and deduction, and maintains the public alias Tooru Amuro while working part-time at Café Poirot as apprentice to detective Kogoro Mouri.

Bullied in childhood for his half-Japanese heritage, Rei frequently fought and received treatment from Elena Miyano at her clinic. Her sudden disappearance after joining the Karasuma Group's research laboratory impacted him significantly. His childhood nickname, "Zero," was given by friend Hiromitsu Morofushi. Rei later enrolled in the police academy, excelling as top student academically and physically before graduating alongside friends including Morofushi and Wataru Date.

Infiltrating the Black Organization earned him the codename Bourbon. Gin noted his secretive nature, while Vermouth acknowledged his perceptiveness. His intense rivalry with Shuichi Akai stems from a misunderstanding during a mission: Akai confronted fellow undercover agent Scotch (Hiromitsu Morofushi), who committed suicide upon hearing approaching footsteps—later revealed to be Furuya's. Furuya blamed Akai for failing to prevent the death, unaware Akai had tried to intervene. This drove Bourbon's relentless pursuit to verify Akai's supposed death, including disguising himself as "Scar Akai" to test reactions from Akai's associates.

As Tooru Amuro, he began investigating Kogoro Mouri after witnessing "Sleeping Kogoro" solve a case. Offering a substantial fee to become Kogoro's apprentice, he started working at Café Poirot to monitor Conan Edogawa, whom he identified as the true force behind Kogoro's deductions. His daily café life involves interactions with colleague Azusa Enomoto, often flustered by his ambiguous comments that spark customer rumors. Their dynamic in *Zero's Tea Time* includes grocery shopping, workplace banter, and moments where Azusa expresses concern during his absences. Amuro once confessed "I love you" to identify the real Azusa during a Kaito Kid impersonation, leveraging her predictable annoyed reaction. The spin-off depicts him reminiscing about the café during a temporary departure, with Azusa tearfully welcoming his return while fabricating excuses about cutting onions.

His personality blends a cheerful, generous façade—bringing sandwiches to the detective agency and patiently enduring abuse during investigations—with a manipulative, ruthless streak. He employs psychological traps and has contemplated extreme actions like hospitalizing a teacher to lure FBI agents or allowing evidence destruction to test Kogoro's abilities. Gin described him as unpredictable, akin to Vermouth. Yet he demonstrates loyalty to Japan's ideals, occasionally showing humanity toward enemies, such as warning FBI agent Andre Camel about traffic restrictions for his safety.

Furuya possesses exceptional deductive skills, ranked the police academy's smartest graduate. His physical abilities include proficiency in boxing and jujutsu for efficient incapacitation. Additional competencies encompass precision driving, junior-champion-level tennis, lockpicking, emergency first aid, and guitar playing.
